14:10: Lingfield

This is a ten-furlong handicap for those rated 0-95, on the all-weather course at Lingfield.

John Gosden runs Middle Kingdom here today, and he is at the top of the handicap. This War Front colt has only had the three runs to date but has looked impressive. He won a maiden on the all-weather at Newcastle, before then being pitched straight into handicap company and winning over ten furlongs on good to firm ground at Newmarket. He finished third in a stronger handicap than this one at Chelmsford last time out, and from the same mark here, he looks a big player.

Celestial Spheres, trained by Charlie Appleby, was a winner last time out over ten furlongs at Newmarket. That was only his second run as a three-year-old and there looks likely to be more to come from him. This will be his first try on an artificial surface, but his sire Redoute's Choice does have a good record with runners on the all-weather tracks.

Ay Ay is another last time out winner, taking a ten-furlong handicap at Nottingham in gritty fashion. He is raised two pounds for that win and this appears a stronger handicap. He hasn't raced over this far on the all-weather, but I think it could play to his strengths and trainer David Elsworth has a fine record with his runners on the artificial surfaces. There is no Ryan Moore on board today, but Sean Levey is still a useful jockey and he could be involved today.

The David O'Meara and Daniel Tudhope partnership team up with Fayez, who was third off top weight in a claiming stakes over course and distance last time out. Prior to that he won here at Newcastle over a mile, but today he is nine pounds higher than for that win, so will need to have improved again to be involved at the business end of proceedings in this one.

Sir Titan is at the bottom of the handicap and after three good performances earlier on in the summer, his last two races have been disappointing. He is been lowered four pounds since then and races over further than a mile for the first time today. He doesn't necessarily look bred for this longer trip, but it will be interesting to see how he gets on.

Today's selection

Celestial Spheres - 1 point @ 4/1
