Crystal Palace vs Southampton – Saturday 16th September 2017 – 12:30 - Sky Sports PL

Palace are 19/10 with Christian Benteke at 4/1 to score first.

Crystal Palace face Southampton at Selhurst Park on Saturday afternoon, in a must win game for both sides.

The Eagles come into this match in poor form, having lost all four of their Premier League matches.

They lost their last match 1-0 against Burnley at Turf Moor, with a poor defensive mistake costing them.

Palace defender Lee Chung-Yong made a horrendous mistake, setting up Chris Wood with a poor back pass in just the third minute.

Despite that early setback, Palace were by far the better side, producing 23 shots on target but unable to find a way past.

Scott Dann missed the best chance of the match for Palace, but ultimately they were unable to find their way past Burnley.

New Manager

Frank De Boer was put out of his misery during the week, with Steve Parish sacking him on Monday morning.

The Dutchman had just four matches, which even by the standards in this day and age is simply not enough time.

They have acted quickly in appointing Roy Hodgson, who has been out of work since his appalling performance as England manager.

He comes into the club with a wealth of experience, but the expansive style of the club will be sacrificed for results it seems.

Eagles Underdogs

Crystal Palace come into this match as underdogs, despite Palace enjoying home advantage.

The Eagles will be looking to win this fixture, securing their first win of the new season.

Palace will be looking to emulate the result of last season, where they beat the Saints 3-0.

Big Challenge

The Saints come into this match on the back of a 2-0 defeat at home against Watford, a poor result for Pellegrino's men.

It was a frustrating match and performance from the Saints, with Claude Puel sacked for his poor home showings.

Watford took the lead in the first half through Abdoulaye Doucoure (38), with the Frenchman producing a clinical volley.

Daryl Janmaat made it 2-0 just after the hour mark (66), with the defender lashing home from 30 yards.

This is a poor result for Pellegrino, he will need to produce far better performances if he is to keep his job.

Mixed Start

That was Southampton's first defeat of the new season, but they have had every type of result in their three home games.

Their only win has been the 3-2 victory against West Ham, with that win far from straight forward.

This will be a tough away game for Southampton, they will want an instant response to last weekend's defeat.

Southampton find themselves in 13th place in the Premier League, with five points from four matches.

Saints Favourites

Mauricio Pellegrino's side come into this match as favorites, despite their poor last showing against Watford.

This will be a tough match for Saints, with Palace in desperate need of a result with their upcoming fixtures.

Southampton will be looking to make it back to back wins against the Eagles.

Southampton are 6/4 with Manolo Gabbiadini at 4/1 to score first.
