Southampton vs West Brom – Saturday 21st October 2017 – 17:30 - BT Sports 1

Southampton are 5/6 with Manolo Gabbiadini at 4/1 to score first.

Southampton face West Brom at St.Mary's on Saturday evening, in another round of games in the Premier League.

The Saints come into this match in mixed form, despite drawing their last match against Newcastle 2-2.

Isaac Hayden scored Newcastle's opener in the 20th minute, giving the visitors a 1-0 lead away from home.

That goal was cancelled out by a fine strike from Manolo Gabbiadini (49), who scored his first goal of the afternoon to draw the Saints level.

Ayoze Perez gave Newcastle the lead for the second time in the match (51), going ahead just two minutes after the Saints equalised.

Manolo Gabbiadini equalised again for the Saints (75), scoring his and the Saints second from the penalty spot, after a clumsy challenge from Florian Lejeune brought Shane Long down in the area.

New Manager

It has been another season of change for Southampton on the managerial front, with Mauricio Pellegrino now in the hot seat.

It's been a tough start for the new Saints manager, with just one win in their last six matches.

They have lost three games during that period, with defeats against Stoke, Man United and Watford.

The Saints find themselves in 11th place after the opening eight matches, an excellent position given their current form.

Saints Favourites

Southampton come into this match as the favourites, with home advantage informing the odds.

Mauricio Pellegrino's men will be looking to win this fixture, giving them their third win this season.

The Saints will be looking to make it 17 wins in 50 matches against West Brom.

Fighting Draw

West Brom come into this match on the back of a 1-1 draw against Leicester, a good result for Tony Pulis men.

Nacer Chadli continued his fine form giving West Brom the lead midway through the second half at the King Power (63).

That goal had looked to be enough for the Baggies, with Tony Pulis' side enjoying a solid defensive display.

Riyad Mahrez had other ideas though, with his late strike (80) rescuing a point for the hosts who are slightly under pressure.

It is a good point for the Baggies but they will be wondering if it is two points dropped after a rare defensive lapse.

Poor Form

West Brom have had a good start to the season, but they have been in poor form of late.

They have lost three and drawn three of their last six matches, with no wins in six matches for Pulis.

Draws against Leicester, Watford and West Ham could easily have been converted into wins.

They find themselves in 10th place in the Premier League, a position they would love to be in come the end of the season.

Baggies Underdogs

Tony Pulis' side come into this match as underdogs, with their poor recent form informing the bookies.

This will be a tough match for West Brom, with Southampton looking to produce a solid home performance.

The Baggies will be looking for their second win in three matches against Southampton.

West Brom are 19/5 with Salomon Rondon, Jay Rodriguez and Hal Robson-Kanu all at 8/1 to open the scoring.
