West Brom's Final Premier League Position: 10th

This Premier League Review sees West Brom's season assessed, with the Baggies enjoying a great season.

Tony Pulis' side came into the season on the back of a 14th placed finish, another case of mid-table mediocrity.

It was a season that five years ago they would have been delighted with, but they are now a fully established Premier League club.

The challenge for West Brom is to now kick on and challenge regularly for a top ten finish every season.

Tony Pulis has done an excellent job at the club, providing stability and slowly progressing up the table.

The calibre of teams in the league is incredible, a top ten finish is an excellent place for West Brom to aim for.

Pulis' style has always been his main criticism, but the Baggies personnel has made for some excellent football this season.

Tough Start

West Brom endured a tough start to the season, despite winning their opening game against Crystal Palace.

Their best run of form came from November through to December, where they won three and drew 1 of four matches.

They lost 17 matches in total, this was one more than both the sides above them in Southampton and Bournemouth.

It will be very difficult for the Baggies to top this season, with the club needing to recruit heavily to better this campaign.

With the sides around them looking to strengthen during the summer it is vital that the Baggies do the same.

Tony Pulis' side registered 12 wins during the course of the season, level pegging with seven other sides.

They finished 45 points behind Antonio Conte's side, registering just under half of their total points.

Cup Failures

West Brom had a poor run in the cups this season, bowing out early of the League and FA Cups.

They lost on penalties against Northampton in the League Cup, and to Derby County in the FA Cup Third Round.

The Baggies definitely have room for improvement in this category, although their league position will continue to be the priority.

Top Stats

Saloman Rondon enjoyed a good season, ending as the club's top Premier League scorer with 8 goals.

Matt Phillips capped off a fine breakthrough season, ending with the most assists (8).

Gareth McAuley enjoyed an incredible season, with the veteran defender scoring six goals, the highest in the league by a defender.

Craig Dawson had an excellent season, winning the most aerial battles (131), the third most clearances (149) and third highest tackles (58).

Their final points tally was 45, that was 2 points better than last season, finishing four places higher.

Overall it's an excellent season due to their top ten finish, they will be targeting a far better performance in the domestic cups though.

Transfer Speculation

Tony Pulis will have a huge job on his hands to better this incredible season, he will need quality reinforcements.

The main issue for West Brom has been attacking flair, they will need to buy high-quality players to progress.

They have yet to sign any players, although they have lost an exceptional player in Darren Fletcher who departed for Stoke.

The potential signing of Jay Rodriguez would be a great acquisition and hanging onto Jonny Evans will be key.
