At 2.15 today at Haydock, the Bet365 Lancashire Oaks will be taking place, with John Gosden firmly setting his sights on a fourth win in six years. Running today are two of his horses, Furia Cruzada and Lady Of Camelot, with both being tipped for a place by the trainer. Furia Cruzada, the South American import is believed to have the better chance today but Lady Of Camelot has had a rest and should really like the distance and the ground today. Furia Cruzada ran well at Ascot on her last trip out, but today is a step up for her so both are fancied each way.
Furia Cruzada has odds of 5/1 with William Hill and Lady Of Camelot is 8/1 with Ladbrokes
Today’s favourite is the Godolphin owned and Charlie Appleby trained Endless Time, she hasn’t raced since last season when she finished on a high with a win at Naas. Appleby has been keeping her for the latter part of the season and the softer ground, she is well fancied today with odds of 4/1 with Bet365.
Nightflower is second favourite this morning, the Peter Schiergen trained horse is escaping a penalty today because she won the Group 1 Preis Von Europa in Cologne last season. Schiergen says "She's in good form and you can forget her last run at Baden-Baden, where everything was against her and she was badly hampered." Nightflower has odds of 4/1 with Paddy Power.
There are now only seven runners, due to several withdrawals yesterday, this is bad news for the each way punters, reducing the place terms to two. The ground is soft and the race is run over 1m 3f and 200y.
Plenty of other racing around today, with the Sandown Coral-Eclipse running later today, where Aidan O’Brien’s The Gurkha is the hotly tipped horse of the race, but he has five entries, so it is inevitable that at least one will finish in the top three, but The Gurkha is a class horse and looks set to take the crown, especially as she is being ridden by Ryan Moore. Today will be another battle between Moore and Detorri, with Dettori riding Western Hymn for John Gosden.
