The 2.20 at Wolverhampton today, sees Emerald Bay and a rising Intense Starlet battling to make first place for their respective trainers.

Emerald Bay trained by Ivan Furtado, although handicapped should do well today over this distance, the yard is in form and although she has yet to win this season, she does have the stamina to do it today. Ridden today by Martin Harley with odds of 6/1 with BetVictor, she was the favourite but has now moved down to third favourite.

Intense Starlet, on the other hand, likes this track, having her two best runs so far here. She goes into today in fourth place and will run with cheek pieces which signal the trainer Marjorie Fife, believes she can do well with a little concentration. Odds on Intense Starlet are 5/1 with William Hill.

Emerald Bay

The favourite today is Jeremy Gask’s Cuban Queen, although out of her last five runs she has had no wins, but is obviously in stellar form, today she has odds of 5/1 with Ladbrokes. Second favourite is Milton Bradley’s Compton Prince; she has odds of 11/2 with Coral this morning.

In other racing news, bookies have odds for Frankie Dettori to ride his 3000th winner tonight at Newmarket, what an amazing achievement this will be for Detorri, but it’s not an if, it’s a when.

Looking ahead to the next few big races, At Haydock tomorrow The Betfred Rose of Lancashire Stakes, run at 3.45 and the favourite is Scottish. This Charlie Appleby-trained horse won his last outing convincingly, but will be moving up on distance in this trip out. Current odds on Scottish are 7/4 with Ladbrokes. The only other real contender tomorrow is John Gosden’s Foundation, although his last run out was awful, he should be judged on his previous form at York. Odds today on Foundation are 5/2 with Ladbrokes.

Looking further ahead, on Sunday there is racing from Deauville, with the Prix Maurice de Gheest being the feature race of the day. Watch out for Dutch Connection the Charlie Hills-trained horse and there are other British Trained horses there, we will expand on that tomorrow.
