The Ladbrokes St Leger at Doncaster is this Saturday, the 10th of September, with the main racing starting on Wednesday at the track, where the going is good to firm today after a spell of heavy rain.

Top of the form is Aidan O’Brien’s fantastic horse Idaho, the recent winner of the Great Voltigeur; odds currently stand at evens for this lovely horse and who would bet against it at the moment, given the Ballydoyle form and if Ryan Moore is riding then it’s practically a given. But O’Brien isn’t finished there, out of a potential forty-two entries, O’Brien has ten entries and nine of them are rated in the top twenty-five. In fact in the top five three are from Ballydoyle. Odds for Idaho are today 10/11 with William Hill.

Idaho

John Gosden’s Muntahaa is currently the second favourite, this after the withdrawal of Wings of Desire, who was the 14/1 favourite, he will be rested to freshen up for Royal Ascot in late October. Muntahaa currently has odds of 10/1 with Ladbrokes.

In third place today is Red Vernon, the Ed Dunlop-trained horse, now Ed is having a good season and quietly working towards the Trainer championship, the question is can Red Vernon win on Saturday to keep him a few places ahead of Aidan O’Brien? Odds on Red Vernon today are 10/1 with Bet365.

We now head back to the Ballydoyle stable mates of Idaho, O’Brien could have a one, two and three placed, which would be totally amazing, but the class of horses he has is amazing. In fourth place we have Sword Fighter, he’s had a month off after coming fifth at Goodwood in late July, but he has a good record with three wins and one place out of seven races this season. Odds on Sword Fighter are 16/1 with Paddy Power.

Last but by no means least, O’Brien’s, HousesofParliament, on his last time out he came in second place at York, but we know he is made of better stuff, O’Brien really does have a fantastic chance of taking all three top spots on Saturday and with a first prize pot of £700,000 that is not to be sniffed at. HousesofParliament has odds of 12/1 with Skybet.

Add into the mix the other Ballydoyle horses, Cook Islands, Kellstorm, The Major General, Unicorn, Pretty Perfect and Somehow, Saturday is looking like a fantastic race.

Plenty of racing around today, at Brighton, Perth, Windsor in England and Galway in Ireland.

Good luck today.
