Running at Ascot today in the 4.15 Totescoop 6 Victoria Cup, this class 2 race looks set to be a thriller, Predominance is coming into the race with a victory two weeks ago at Haydock and his trainer William Haggas is confident that he will be able to stay the course. Haggas also has Squats and Valley of Fire running in this race both have rested well recently and need a good run out. News from the track is Predominance is the one to watch though.
Odds today are Predominance 10/1 with William Hill, as the third favourite it’s a good early price. Valley of Fire is 33/1 with Ladbrokes a rank outsider but maybe worth an each way, and Squats is 22/1 with bet365.
Also in good form are the Godolphin owned horses, Flash fire and Hold Tight. Flash Fire is trained by Charlie Appleby and on his last run at Newmarket found the conditions too soft and struggled into fifth place. If the ground is firmer today which it is then he should fly. Whilst Hold tight who is trained by Saeed bin Suroor hasn’t been on track since mid-January. Both horses have spent some time in Dubai and have come back fit and ready to fly but if the ground is quick today Hold Tight may have the upper hand. Hold tight is running with odds of 12/1 with Ladbrokes and Flash Fire is 22/1 with William Hill.
Not to be ruled out is Grand Inquisitor, trained by Sir Michael Stoute who had an impressive sixth Ormonde win yesterday with the Queen's horse Dartmouth, he knows where to place his horses and Grand Inquisitor is second favourite this afternoon with odds of 10/1 with Ladbrokes.
There are 27 runners and riders this afternoon and the ground is good to firm, the favourite this morning is Outback Traveller, trained by Robert Cowell and ridden by Martin Harley, this is a fast horse, who loves good to firm ground so this should be a great race this afternoon, odds on Outback Traveller are 8/1 with Paddy Power. Remember to get your bets on early for the best prices. Good luck today.
