Sir Michael Stoute’s Dubka is all set to seal her rise in the horse racing world later today in the 3.40 at Bath in the British Stallion Studs EBF Beckford Fillies' Stakes. The Dubawi filly is one of those improvers that Stoute seems to be gaining on a regular basis. Although she steps up two furlongs here, her pedigree suggests she should take that all in her stride. The favourite today from a field of fourteen runners, she has odds of 2/1 with Ladbrokes this morning. Please also take into account that Ryan Moore is riding this filly, he’s still trying to catch up in the Jockey’s championship so is taking rides that he knows have a great chance of winning.
Watch out for Purple Magic though, this Lady Bamford owner/trained filly is also up there at the top, with four wins from seven runs, if the ground conditions suit then it could be a tough race. Odds on Purple Magic this morning are 4/1 with William Hill.
Intense Tango, trained by KR Burke is third favourite in this race, having had some ups and downs over the thirty previous runs she looks to be getting in some form. Last time out she was third and out of thirty runs she has won five had seven-second places and four third. Not too shabby, but can she pull anything off against the class that is Dubka? Odds on Intense Tango today are 10/1 with Coral, so worth an each way bet.
There is only one other horse form this field of fourteen runners that is even being mentioned today and that is Tioga Pass, trained by Paul Cole and owned by The Fairy Story Partnership. She has a varied history so unless something really drastic happens I don’t think she’ll come close to beating the others, but you never know. The odds on Tioga Pass today are 16/1 with Boyle Sports.
It’s a beautiful Autumnal day in Bath today, with that cold Easterly wind and I think any showers will quickly be blown away from the course, the going is Good to firm and as there hasn’t been any rain to speak of in the last week or so I don’t see that changing.
Good Luck today.
