Champions-League-Schedule-2014

Champions League

The final two quarter final second legs take place tonight and both matches are evenly poised with just a goal between both sets of teams.

Barcelona travel to Madrid to play Atletico and they are rather fortunate to be going there with a 2-1 lead. Madrid were looking pretty comfortable leading 1-0 before the goal scorer Fernando Torres was sent off for a second bookable offence, which meant they had to try and hold out for around an hour. They were unable to do so however, with Luis Suarez bagging a brace.

The away goal could prove to be crucial in this instance as Madrid concede very few goals and will back themselves to hold out if they do manage to get ahead. I think that Barca will score however and it will depend on whether Madrid have it in them to get at least two goals. The both teams to score market - yes, is attractively priced at 17/20 and it is a selection I will be backing Madrid know they have to score to have any chance of progressing and with the front three that Barca have it is difficult to imagine them not scoring.

Bayern Munich travel to Portugal to play Benfica with a 1-0 lead from the first leg. Bayern had plenty of chances to increase this lead and as they didn't take them, this tie is in the balance. The fact that Benfica did not get an away goal could prove very costly as if Bayern score, Benfica will need three to go through. Bayern are another team where it is hard to envisage them not scoring tonight and therefore it is another match where I think both teams to score has a great chance of landing. Again, at a shade odds on it appears to be the value play.

16:30 Newmarket

The flat racing season is starting to kick into gear now and there is some nice looking racing taking place at Newmarket this week.

This is a Group 3 run over nine furlongs and on the face of it, it appears to be an open looking contest. Dutch Connection's last run was a decent fifth at Keeneland and prior to that he recorded two second place finishes at Goodwood (Group 2) and Chantilly (Group 1), both over seven furlongs. The step up to today's distance looks certain to bring out further improvement and the conditions won't be a problem, therefore I think he is the one to be on today.
