champs league

We finished off last week on a good note with Golden Horn winning, then on Sunday our selection of Pat Cummins being top wicket taker in the England v Australia one day series came in at 6/1 as he was four wickets clear of anyone else.

We are now 18 points up so far this month and over 32 points in profit since I started doing this blog at the beginning of July. This keeps us nicely in front of our target of 10 points profit each month so let's hope we can continue to go in the right direction this week.

Champions League

The group stages of the Champions League kick off tonight and there are some interesting match ups. Man Utd travel to PSV and it appears that they will do so without captain Wayne Rooney. They managed to win their big match on Saturday at home to Liverpool but I thought both sides were dreadfully poor and this is one of the worst Utd teams for quite some time.

PSV are the top seeds in this group and they have had a reasonable start to their league campaign with three wins and two draws. Given Utd's current form PSV will not have to be anything special to cause problems here and at 13/5 I think they are a stand out bet to win tonight.

Benfica, PSG and Real Madrid all look home bankers are very short prices against Astana, Malmo and Shakhtar Donetsk respectively.

Atletico Madrid travel to Turkey to play Galatasaray and given how strong they look, a price of 3/4 appears generous as although it can be a tough place to visit, Madrid have a far stronger team.

Man City host Juventus is what should be a fascinating match. According to reports it looks like Sergio Aguero, David Silva and Raheem Sterling could all miss out with injuries, if that's the case then City could find things really tough as the creativity in their side disappears.

Chepstow 16:40

Desdichado was well beaten on his debut after being slowly away, however he left that effort behind when running out an impressive winner next time at Ffos Las over ten furlongs. He stayed on really well that day so the extra two furlongs here should be perfect and he beat a big favourite on the day that had a rating of 80.

Desdichado has been given an 80 rating for his handicap debut which looks on the lenient side. That together with his three year old allowance means he appears really well in here and is the stand out bet of the day for me at best price 13/8.
