Richard Fahey’s horse Growl is all set to roar into first place in the William Hill Gold Cup at Ayr today at 3.45. Finishing in fourth place on his last outing at Goodwood, Fahey says he’s in excellent form and should step up to win comfortably today. Roaring into the favourite spot with the bookies, he has been the constant all week in the betting, odds today on Growl are still quite good at 5/1 with Bet365.

This is a class two race today, following up in second place is G Force, trained by Adrian Paul Keatley. He’s had an inconsistent history, coming third on his last outing but last the time before, which is probably why Growl is the favourite, he has a more steady build up to his last result. G Force has odds today of 11/1 with Skybet.

In third place is Magnus Magnusson, trained by Robyn Brisland, who is having a great season with 83 winners, one of the competitors for the Trainers Championship surely, this horse is on top form, with first places in his last two outings, so don’t rule him out today, all he needs is ground that suits and a good start and there may be no stopping him. Odds on Magnus Magnusson today are 14/1 with Ladbrokes.

This is a difficult race to pick a winner in though, with 24 runners all with varying ability and experience. Horses with form on this type of ground are one way to bet, Brando, Aeolus, Hillbilly Boy, Nameitwhatyoulike, Jack Dexter and Lulu The Zulu have all favoured the soft conditions, but you need to look deeper into it than that. Two of the last three winners have run out of stall 19! Superstition? You might say so or just pure luck? Pat Smullen and Kevin Ryan are a previous winning partnership, four years ago they won with Captain Ramius they’ll be looking to do that again today with Teruntum Star.

Other horses to watch are Brando, with odds of 18/1 with BetVictor and Absolutely So with odds of 16/1 with Ladbrokes.

There is plenty of other racing around today with cards at Catterick, Newbury, Newmarket and Wolverhampton, Listowel in Ireland, the USA, France and Australia.

Good Luck today.
