This three mile handicap chase has an open looking feel to it but I think I have spotted one that represents the value in the field.
Danandy was a very comfortable winner on his seasonal reappearance in July when he was an eight length winner over two miles and six furlongs at Stratford. He has had a bit of a break since then and comes back today nine pounds higher in the handicap. This represents a career high mark of 127 and I think that although he appears to be heading the in the right direction, he will need to put up a massive performance to win here today.
Border breaker for David Pipe has been running consistently this year but a win and three placed efforts from his four starts. His victory was over two and a half miles with his other three races all over two miles and seven furlongs. In each of those he tired noticeably towards the end of the race and I think he will be outstayed here as some of these get the distance comfortably.
Adrenalin Flight's latest run was over hurdles where he finished mid division, however prior to that he put in a couple of good performances over fences. He won a class 3 race at Fontwell before coming a respectable third in a Listed chase at Uttoxeter. Both of these races were over three miles and two furlongs and he consistently races over three miles so stamina won't be an issue here. I do wonder if three miles flat is on the short side for him though and although he is sure to be staying on at the business end of proceedings I think there is a chance he may get a little outpaced and have too much ground to make up.
Fruity O'Rooney is the elderly statesmen of the field at twelve years old and his best days are surely behind him. He is on a mark that is 21 pounds lower than his highest and if he retains the enthusiasm for racing he will have an outside chance of making the frame with a good run.
We selected Dursey Sound last time out at a nice price when he went on to win a good race at Warwick. He has been raised seven pounds for that win but is still 12 pounds below his high mark of around this time last season. This sort of distance appears perfect for him and the drier ground here today shouldn't inconvenience him. Richard Johnson rides for Jonjo O'Neill and it is always a combination to keep an eye out for. As a seven year old I think he has plenty of room for improvement and this is the time of the season that he seems to excel. Putting all of that together makes him the standout bet of the day for me and at 7/2 he is a cracking value bet.
Champions League
Arsenal host German Champions Bayern Munich knowing that they realistically need to win to keep their hopes of progressing to the knock out phase alive. Having lost their first two matches to the lesser teams in the group the pressure is really on.
Munich have been scoring goals for fun averaging over three goals a game in their domestic league and they have scored eight goals in their two Champions League games so far. This will be a massive test for Arsenal but their form has been much improved and they look a lot more solid than they did earlier on in the season. I actually think Arsenal maybe good enough to get a win here tonight and think they are worth a bet in the half time/full time market.
