The 2.55 at Goodwood today see’s Frankie Dettori riding Persuasive, the hotly tipped front runner in this race. The Goodwood Aero Club Fillies´ Stakes has seven runners over a mile today, with Persuasive showing good form in his last race in April and the John Gosden trained horse will be looking to cement his reputation in this race. His odds are 6/5 with Coral this morning.
Running against him is the Sir Michael Stoute trained Aristocratic, second favourite today with odds of 2/1 with Ladbrokes. Partnered by Ryan Moore again, he has hit 3rd in his last three races, so today Ryan will be looking to step up the pressure against Frankie. Third favourite today is last week’s runner up at Newmarket Carpe Diem Lady, trained by Clive Cox and ridden by John Fahy they will be looking to move him forwards too, so it should be an interesting race today. Odds on Carpe Diem Lady are 4/1 with Bet365.
Plenty of racing around today for you to focus on, in the UK we have cards at Goodwood, Carlisle, Wolverhampton, Stratford, Catterick and Haydock. There is also racing in Ireland at Cork and plenty of International racing at Chantilly and in the United states today and over the weekend where Nyquist tries for the treble after success at The Kentucky Derby and this weekend he will vie for the Preakness with a purse of $1.5 million dollars.
Nyquist is an amazing horse and while you won’t get great odds on him to win, just watching him romp home is enough to make you realise he is going down in history as one of the great horses in American Racing. He loves racing, he is the Usain Bolt of the Equine world, when he finishes he looks like he hasn’t really put that much effort in and if he went flat out you wouldn’t believe how fast he really is. His only real competition this weekend is Exaggerate, he came second to him in the Derby, but he’d have to pull something pretty special out of the bag to beat Nyquist. He’s lost four times to Nyquist so I know who my money's on out of the two, but in saying that, Nyquist has three other siblings in this race, Abiding Star, Laoban and Uncle Lino are all sons of Uncle Mo the White Hot stallion, giving him four runners in the eleven runner race. This is the race to watch in America this weekend. Running at Maryland and being aired in the UK at 23.18 tomorrow evening, Nyquist has odds of 4/6 with Ladbrokes and Exaggerator is 7/2. As usual odds in the UK are better than in the States.
Good luck, check back tomorrow for previews of the Irish Guineas and other feature races.
