Premier League

The big game of the weekend is Man City at home to Liverpool. City enter the game as odds on favourites as they are top of the league and generally have a fantastic record at the Etihad. Injuries have ruled out some big players for them however as they will be without Silva, Company, Nasri and Bony. Sergio Aguero is fit again and may need to be put straight back in due to the lack of striker options. If he really isn't ready to start then they will surely go with ex red Raheem Sterling in the central role.

For Liverpool they have the bonus of six or seven players that are likely to start today not having been away during the international break. This could prove invaluable to them as they would have had almost two weeks to work on what they will be doing instead of just a few days like the majority of the City players.

City maybe top but they have had some indifferent results this season and they are not quite the same team when they don't have Aguero and Silva together. Added to that is they will have a new centre back pairing of Otamendi and Mangala and Liverpool will fancy their chances of getting something today. They are still getting to grips with how Klopp wants them to play but at the moment they seem suited to playing away from home and were excellent two games back where they comfortably beat current champions Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. If they can contain City then I think Benteke, Coutinho and Firmino will cause plenty of problems.

15:10 Haydock - Betfair Chase

There maybe only five runners but this is a cracking renewal of the Betfair Chase.

Cue Card looked to have put last season's problems behind him with an excellent win in the Charlie Hall, with three of today's rivals behind him. He is sure to make a bold bid again today to take a race that he won in 2013.

Dynaste jumped well enough in the Charlie Hall and looked to have every chance two out, however he couldn't stay the pace of Cue Card and it is hard to see him doing so today on ground that is far from ideal.

Silviniaco Conti is a top class horse and he has won this race twice including last year's renewal. The soft to ha easy conditions will suit him the most and he came through a prep race over hurdles really well a few weeks ago. I think he will lead from the off and if his jumping is as sound as it usually is I expect him to run this field into the ground and win by a comfortable margin.
