Running at 5.40 today in the Tattersalls Irish 2000 Guineas at the Curragh, Galileo Gold and Air Force Blue are running head to head again. They last met in the 2000 Guineas last month, but Air Force Blue failed to deliver and looked quite ordinary. Some tipsters are now commenting that he only got good reviews because of his trainer Aidan O’Brien, but watch this space, O’Brien has changed his training routine and today he races without the tongue-tie which was previously used at Newmarket. This may or may not have a dramatic affect. If he wins today it will be his trainer’s 11th Tattersall win.

Running in opposition is Galileo Gold, trained by Hugo Palmer and ridden by Frankie Dettori, there’s not much to say about this horse, he’s favourite today for a reason. He’s proved himself over the distance and it would take a much improved Air Force Blue to beat him today.

O’Brien has three other horses in this eight horse race over one mile, Air Vice Marshall, Bravery and Shogun. Air Vice Marshall will be trying to improve on his fourth place at Newmarket today, where Air Force Blue did so badly.

Here are the odds, Galileo Gold is 7/4 with William Hill, Air Force Blue is 3/1 with Skybet, the 3rd favourite and not to be ruled out is Awtaad, he’s in form and could do well, so an each way bet would be recommended, odds for him are 6/1 with Coral. As ever get your bets on early for the best price. The going is good at Curragh today.

Also running today, Haydock 4.10 in the Temple Stakes there are sixteen runners and riders over five furlongs. The going today is which doesn’t really favour Mecca’s Angel, the Michael Dodd’s trained horse really needs a slower ground to perform but the weather is anything but settled so it may be that goes in her favour. That being said she is backed as favourite today; odds are 11/8 at BetVictor. Second favourite is Muthmir who loves the good ground; odds are 8/1 with Ladbrokes and third are Waady who at 9/1 third favourite is a good price. As ever, get that early price for the best odds and Good Luck.
