THIS WEEKS WORLDWIDE FOOTBALL TIPS

- Tuesday 25/08/2015

Tuesday sees twenty three ties played in this year’s second round of the Capital One cup with a number of top flight teams playing lower league opposition.

Four teams I believe will be too strong for their opposition are CRYSTAL PALACE at home to league one Shrewsbury Town. Palace have had a good start to the season with two wins from three and their only defeat coming against Arsenal where they only narrowly lost out 1-2. Shrewsbury have started their league one campaign without a win, drawing two and losing two. It’s worth mentioning their only competitive victory this season has come at Blackburn in the previous round of this competition albeit against a weak Blackburn team. I believe Palace will be far too strong for the Shrews therefore they make it into my Capital One cup fourfold.

The next team to note is NEWCASTLE UNITED at home to Northampton. Ok, not a great start to this year’s premier league campaign for Steve McLaren’s men with just the 2 points but good performances against Manchester United away and also Southampton shows me that they are more than capable of dealing with League Two Northampton who have also not had a great start to the season losing their last two league games by 2 goals to nil in each game.

SWANSEA held Chelsea to a two all draw in their first game of season and looked a really good team, they then went on to beat Newcastle comfortably the following week. They haven’t got a premier league game until Sunday so there is no reason why they wouldn’t field a strong team here against League Two side York who have only scored two goals in four matches in the league and I really can’t see them troubling the Swansea defence here. My prediction is Swansea will dominate and probably win to nil as the odds reflect.

Barnet are finding it tough so far this season in League Two after winning promotion impressively from the conference last year with just the one win in four games and conceding five goals in their two competitive away games this season. They take on a WOLVERHAMPTON WANDERERS side who also achieved promotion last year and are tipped to finish in the top half and maybe even push for promotion this year. Just the one win so far against a good Blackburn side but have struggled since which I’m willing to put down to them playing three very good sides in Cardiff, QPR and Hull. I think they will want to take this competition serious and will therefore come out victorious against a lower league side who struggle on their travels.

CRYSTAL PALACE
NEWCASTLE
SWANSEA
WOLVES

The fourfold pays 2.6/1 (3pt stake advised)

Five second leg ties today in the Champions League and some very competitive matches featuring some top European sides and one game that catches my eye is CKSA MOSCOW vs SPORTING LISBON (17.00 kick off)

CSKA trail 2-1 from the first leg but that could have easily been 2-2 if Doumbia’s first goal wasn’t ruled out. Sporting scored an early goal in the first leg and that pretty much set up the game in their favour with Moscow chasing the game to try and get an important away goal (which they got in the end) and were left vulnerable on the counter attack but this game was a lot closer than the stats show and therefore I’m going to go for CSKA MOSCOW to win the second leg at odds of 6/5. Sporting won’t like the hostile environment of the Khimki Arena as Russia is always a tough place to go and get a result and with CSKA in great form winning their first six games of the Russian premier league I have to back them for victory at those odds. Another reason for my selection is the firepower Moscow possess going forward with the likes of Doumbia, Dzagoev, Eremenko and Ahmed Musa with the latter scoring 6 goals in 6 games this term. The 22 year old was tipped for a big move to one of the big European teams this summer and he’s showing why a lot of clubs are after him with his very impressive goal scoring record. I’ll be backing AHMED MUSA to score anytime at 13/8.

CSKA MOSCOW TO WIN – 6/5 (2pt stake advised)
AHMED MUSA TO SCORE ANYTIME13/8 (1pt stake advised)

Thursday night is Europa league night with a total of 22 games being played across Europe and there were some very interesting score lines in the first leg of these matches. One which really surprised me was ATHLETIC BILBAO who went from beating Barcelona 4-0 to losing 3-2 to MSK ZILINA of Slovakia six days later! Bilbao will wont to be playing in Europe this season and I can really see them going all-out attack from the first whistle to turn this tie around but are unbackable at 2/9 and therefore with 5 goals scored in the first leg I’m going to bet on there being over 2.5 goals again in this game. With odds of 13/20 im going to double the bet up with another Europa league game where I think there will be three or more goals and that’s the SALZBURG vs DINAMO MINSK game. Salzburg trial 2-0 from the first leg but are a force at home and I fully expect them to chase the game and score at least two in this game if not more. They have scored 10 goals in their last 4 competitive league games so they know exactly where the goal is plus they need at least two to get anything out of this second leg. The more they attack though the more vulnerable they are at the back which could lead to Dinamo Minsk easily scoring a vital away goal… I fully expect these two games to be goal fests!!

SALZBURG vs DINAMO MINSK (19.30 KO) OVER 2.5 GOALS
ATHLETIC BILBAO vs MSK ZILINA (19.45 KO) OVER 2.5 GOALS

THE DOUBLE PAYS 2/1 (2pt stake advised)

GUINGAMP vs MARSEILLE (19.30 KO)

Guingamp have had a terrible start to the season playing three and losing three without even scoring a goal and conceding five along the way, three of those came away at Bastia in their last league game so confidence will already be low before welcoming a strong Marseille side to the Stade De Roudourou who themselves hadn’t really got into first gear until their 6-0 drumming of Troyes this past Sunday. I’m personal going to be backing Marseille here to win at odds of 19/20 and hoping that 6-0 win will be enough to kick start their season and start racking up points on the board. It’s also worth noting the last five meetings between these two have all gone Marseilles way scoring 9 and only conceding 3.

MARSEILLE TO WIN – 19/20 (2pt stake advised)

WOLFSBURG vs SCHALKE (19.30 KO)

Both teams have started the campaign with one victory and one draw each so far and currently sit 4th and 6th in the league table respectively with both teams wanting to come into this game keeping their unbeaten record I think we could be in for a real cracker! My bet for this game has to be BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE & OVER 2.5 GOALS at odds of 5/6 after looking at both teams goal scoring records and previous meetings, their previous five meetings have finished 1-1, 3-2, 2-1, 4-0 and 1-4 so I’m hoping they carry on the trend tonight and treat us to a goal fest! Wolfsburg’s last five home games have finished with a goals scored total of 11 and a goals conceded total of 7, conceding and scoring in each game. Schalke’s last five away games have a goal scoring total of 13 so they are not shy in front of goal at all and I fully expect them to get at least one here with Wolfsburg’s defence not looking the greatest this season.

BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE & OVER 2.5 GOALS – 5/6 (2pt stake advised)

WILL ALSO BE BACKING A DOUBLE ON THE TWO BETS ABOVE - 2.6/1 (1pt stake advised)
