Yarmouth 15:30
It's not a bad card at Yarmouth today for an end of season meeting, and this is a nice looking one mile and three furlongs handicap.
Hajaam, trained by Charlie Fellowes, is chasing a four-timer here today after three wins at distances between ten and twelve furlongs on ground that was generally testing. He is now 18 pounds higher than for the first of those victories, but this three-year-old is clearly in fine form and was such an easy winner of a similar contest last time out, that the extra eight pounds he carries here today may not be enough to stop him.
Maestro Mac has won two out of his last three races (finishing second in the other), and is very much at home in today's good to soft conditions. He won last time out on the all-weather at Chelmsford in a 0-75 handicap where he was eased down at the finish, therefore, if he reproduces that kind of performance back on the turf he may be tough to beat, even with the extra six pounds he will carry in this one. Pat Cosgrave takes the ride on him today and he has an excellent long-term record here at Yarmouth, producing a level stakes profit of 21.96 from his last 87 runners.
Dean Ivory runs Incredible Dream here today and he had been running consistently before finding 14 furlongs in heavy going at Salisbury too much for him last time out. Prior to that he was a facile winner of a soft ground handicap over 12 furlongs at Chepstow, and a repeat of that performance could see him being competitive even from a six pound higher mark. Any further rain would surely be a plus but he has won on good to soft before so it's not a necessity.
Big Sigh was a winner last time out on heavy going at Haydock, however, he was comfortably beaten by Incredible Dream prior to that and he is only one pound better off with that rival today, so I don't expect him to reverse the placings unless something untoward happens.
