Jockey Ryan Moore is back in the saddle this afternoon after taking a month’s break, initially, he was only going to take a short break, but later decided to give himself longer. This slimmed down his hopes of winning the Champion Jockey award this season, but he’s definitely not out of the running.
This afternoon he rides in the 2.00 at Newmarket on Sir Michael Stoute’s horse Spatial, who should do well, although it is only her second race she came second here last time out and it is possible to ramp up that to a first, especially with Moore riding her. Spatial is the favourite going into the race with odds of 7/4 with all the bookmakers this morning. Look out for the deals with Ladbrokes and Betfair to get a great deal.
There are ten runners in today’s race and it’s over seven furlongs, the going is good to firm, there may be some heavy thundery showers later that could affect that.
Second favourite is Charlie Appleby’s Sobetsu, ridden today by William Buick, another in-form jockey so this will be a great race to watch. Odds on Sobetsu are 11/4 with William Hill. Although unraced Appleby has had lots of luck with his juveniles this year, which is why he’s up in the top of the table with bookies.
Third but by no means least is Hugo Palmer’s Unforgettable Filly, ridden today by James Doyle, with really good odds of 20/1 with Ladbrokes this morning.
Plenty of racing around today with action at Thirsk, Newcastle, Newmarket, Goodwood and over the sea in Ireland at Down Royal and Ffos Las, where Shore Start runs in the 5.05 today. Highly thought of by the tipsters today, his previous two races were not that great but as an each way today he looks promising with odds of 11/1 with Paddy Power. The favourite in this race is Quixote, but there appears to be little difference in the two horses. Quixote runs with odds of 6/1 with Bet365.
As ever, Good Luck today and pop back tomorrow for our feature race of the day, with all the horse racing news.
