Trainer Mark Johnston has Ascot in mind for Yalta who runs this evening in the 7.30 at Pontefract. There are only four runners and he is favourite, no surprise there though. He is the most tipped horse today and on his last outing at Goodwood last week, he was yards ahead of the competition, big things are expected of this lovely Stallion tonight. Odds are 4/9 with Paddy Power and his jockey today is William Buick.

There is only one other contender in this race and that is Brian Ellison’s Orewa, who has finished first in the last two starts over this distance at Beverly. Odds for Orewa are 5/1 with BetVictor. This is a five furlong race and the going today is good which should suit both horses.

Also running today is Majoris in the 2.40 at Haydock, sired by Frankel, his trainer Hugo Palmer, who will be hoping he does his parentage proud and keeps his 100 percent record going. His first son Cunco won over six furlongs at Newbury earlier this month. This is a hotly contested race and Majoris is third favourite at the moment, with a field of fourteen runners over six furlongs, the going is good to soft.

Running as the favourite today is Dream of Dreams, who finished first over five furlongs at Newmarket last month, he’s the one to beat today with his trainer Kevin Ryan knowing he can step up to the plate after his debut win. Majoris is 5/1 with Ladbrokes and Dream of Dreams is 5/4 with Coral.

With a lot of attention on Ascot entries, this race is usually a precursor, so keep an eye out for Eldorado Creek and Buskin River who run today. Should they do well may be running at Ascot in a couple of weeks’ time. Buskin River is 16/1 with Paddy Power and Eldorado Creek is an outsider at 40/1 with William Hill and most other bookies. There is a big field and some of those outsiders’ prices are falling quickly so keep an eye on this, it sometimes give you a clue on what’s actually going on down at the trackside.

As ever, get those bets on early for a good price and tune back in soon for tomorrow’s race insight and other specials on this Bank Holiday weekend.

Good luck.
