There are only four race meetings today as Wimbledon and the Euros take centre stage. That’s not to say the top trainers and jockeys are sitting back on their laurels, because they aren’t.
Tonight at 6.55 at Windsor, the Cresta Run Maiden Fillies Stake takes place and all the tipsters are talking about are Richard Hannon’s entry Greenfyre. Out of nine starts she had two second places and one-third, so why is she being tipped today, well the Wiltshire based trainer is on a run of luck, immediately you rule nothing out, but aside for that word from the stable is that Greenfyre is fighting fit and the ground should suit as it’s Good to soft.
Richard Hannon is said to be one of those people who has an aura around him, when he walks into a room people gravitate towards him, some people may be sceptical of this, but having met a man who also had that aura about him, I can say it does exist. This drives attention and good luck to him, so don’t rule out a win from Greenfyre today, she’s second favourite with the bookies with odds of 3/1 with William Hill.
There are nine runners tonight and the favourite is Andrew Balding’s Atlante, I’m not sure why because she has only raced once before and she came seventh in that race, she would have to do something amazing to beat Greenfyre. Odds today on Atlante are also 3/1 with Ladbrokes.
Third favourite today is Canford Lilli, the Eve Johnson-Houghton trained horse and again she has been lightly raced so it’s no surprise all the talk is of the more experienced Greenfyre. Odds on Canford Lilli are9/2 with Paddy Power today.
Plenty of racing to look forward to this week, with the Coral Eclipse on Saturday at Sandown, the Royal Ascot winner Hawkbill has been added to the line-up, the Godolphin-owned horse is in excellent form after winning his last five starts, and hopefully the ground there will suit him.
With a big field at the moment this looks set to be a fantastic race, so come back later in the week for a full run down of all the runners and riders.
Good Luck today.
