Sir Michael Stoute is set up nicely for his ninth win in the Doom Bar Celebration Mile with his up and coming horse Thikriyaat. Having won three of his four races all at group three level, Stoute is wondering if he can take that step up to Group 1. He is entered for the Group 1 race, Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at Ascot in October, but that all depends if he can the step up to group 2 today in the Doom Bar Celebration Mile. Thikriyaat is the current favourite of the five runners in today’s race with odds of 15/8 with Paddy Power.
Clive Cox’s Zonderland is second favourite today, out of his seven starts he’s won three times, last time out he won, so he could step up again and really push to finish first again. Zonderland has odds today of 5/2 with Ladbrokes.
Ryan Moore won yesterday on his return to racing after a month off, riding Sir Michael Stoute’s horse Spatial at Newmarket. Spatial looked comfortable in her win and they won by two and a half lengths, Moore was said to be happy with his winning return.
Moore rides out again today for Sir Michael at Windsor, with two rides, Justice Smart and Ulysses.
Justice Smart runs in the 5.25 at Windsor, and runs as today’s favourite, with only three starts and one win, Moore hasn’t ridden him before but they go in as the favourite with odds of 11/4 with William Hill. Ulysses runs in the next race at Windsor, at 6.00pm. Again, the favourite in the race, with five starts, two wins and one second place, but a first place on his last run out. Odds on Ulysses today are 10/11 or evens with Bet365.
Sir Michael Stoute looks to be setting Moore up with a few more first places to help him get back on track in the Jockeys Championship, Moore came back yesterday lagging by around 75 in the table, if he completes these two today, this should get him back in contention. Class will out and he is a first class jockey.
Pop back tomorrow when we’ll give you an update on the back holiday races, as ever Good Luck today.
