Europa League

The first legs of the Europa League semi finals take place tonight, and like the Champions League, we still have English interest in the competition.

Liverpool came through against the then tournament favourites Borussia Dortmund in the quarter finals where they staged an incredible fightback at Anfield to get the winner through Dejan Lovren's header in stoppage time. There have been many amazing European nights at Anfield over the years and this was right up there with the best of them.

Tonight they travel to Spain to play Villarreal, who currently sit in fourth place in La Liga. They are a very well drilled outfit who although don't score a huge amount of goals, they are very solid in defence and have conceded just 31 times in 35 matches so far this season in the league.

Liverpool on the other hand have had a few problems defensively this season and will be without Mamadou Sakho, who failed a drugs test and looks likely to be banned for a considerable period of time. It will be interesting to see who Jurgen Klopp decides to play alongside Lovren, as their performance could be key.

At the other end of the pitch Liverpool have been scoring goals for fun and they will certainly be looking to get at least one away goal to take back to Anfield, just as they did in the previous round. Daniel Sturridge looks to be almost back at peak fitness now which is a huge plus given the injury to Divock Origi against Everton. Along with Coutinho, Firmino and Lallana Liverpool have a very potent front four and I think they will have enough to take this first leg by a narrow margin. They are best priced 21/10 for the victory and I think there is value in that.

The other semi final takes place between Shaktar Donetsk and Sevilla, with the Ukranian side at home in the first. They are extremely strong at home and it looks certain that they will need a win to take to Spain as Sevialla's pedigree in this competition speaks for itself. This is a game that I feel Shaktar have enough to win, Sevilla haven't looked quite as strong this season, and I will be backing them to do so tonight.
