12:15 Newbury

A juvenile hurdle over two miles to start the day and Dan Skelton runs the very fine prospect Kasakh Noir. He won here in similar conditions last time out in an extremely impressive fashion as he was unextended and 16 lengths clear. Due to that win he has to carry ten pounds more than his rivals here today but it doesn't look like that will be anywhere near enough to stop him unless one of the newcomers that are unraced in England prove to be out of the top drawer.

14:35 Newbury

Violet Dancer for Gary Moore carries top weight in this handicap chase but he was good enough to win the Betfair Hurdle around this course so I don't think his mark looks too bad. He won a novices' chase at Plumpton by a long way although his jumping wasn't always spot on and he was a little keen. He should have come on plenty for that run and I think he will have too much for his rivals here today and looks a nice bit of value.

Premier League

Leicester host Man City in today's only Premier League match and it has the makings of a great game. Leicester were top at Xmas but were beaten 1-0 at Anfield by Liverpool on Boxing Day and although it was on by one goal it was really comfortable for the home side. I think this maybe a game where we see the difference between the really top sides in this league and Leicester. The have relied heavily on a few players so far this season and with several games in a short space of time, I think they may struggle.

David Silva is back fit and playing well for City and alongside De Bruyne and Sterling they will have far too much and win the game by at least a couple of goals.
