He’s one of the most successful jockeys this season and Ryan Moore is hotly backed to win this afternoon Betfred Mile. The race kicks off at 3.10 on the Goodwood track and Moore is more than ready to bring Franklin D in front to win this classic race.
Normally racing for Aidan O’Brien, today he races for Michael Bell but Franklin D, also has plenty of good form, he won by sixth lengths on his last outing. Today he was the only horse not in double figures on the card. Odds on Franklin D are 7/4 with William Hill. Hopefully, Michael Bell will continue his success today after winning yesterday with Big Orange.
Franklin D is up against some formidable competition, like last year’s winner Belgian Bill, who was only awarded the race after So Beloved was disqualified. Also running is Red avenger, also a previous winner of this race. Odds on Belgian Bill today are 16/1 with Ladbrokes and Red Avenger is 33/1 with Bet365.
There are 22 runners in today’s race and it’s run over 1mile and the going is good to firm, so Franklin D should be able to get a good run in and with his handicap today it would take a major disaster for him not to win. This is a big field though and there are other potential threats from Boomshackarlakar, who is Belgian Bill’s stable mate and has odds today of 40/1 with Coral. The Marco Botti-trained Azraaf; the second favourite today now has odds of 9/1 with Paddy Power.
The third favourite today is Robert Eddery’s Donncha, with odds of 11/1 with BetVictor, this race is set to be another great battle of wills and make this year’s Goodwood one of the best ever. There is still plenty of other racing around the country too, with The Galway Festival still in full swing and racing today at Bath, Bangor-on-Dee, Newmarket, Musselburgh and Thirsk.
