Aidan O’Brien is sticking close to home today at Roscommon to get Hibiscus into early winning ways. Running in the 6.30 IRISH STALLION FARMS EUROPEAN BREEDERS FUND FILLIES MAIDEN for three-year-olds, O’Brien will be hoping Hibiscus can step up to the plate after her last outing which was a little disorganised. She finished second on that outing, but today is expected to win. Running alongside her stablemate, Eavesdrop, she should feel somewhat at home on this track and bring more silverware to the cabinets at Ballydoyle.
Odds on Hibiscus this morning are 6/4 with Ladbrokes and Eavesdrop is 6/1 with Coral. O’Brien will be hoping for a place for Eavesdrop out of the eight runners today, the ground is soft to yielding and the distance is 1m3f174y.
Other horses to watch out for here today are DK Weld’s horse, A Shin Kildare who needs a win to prove herself and Declan McDonough’s Sea The Awesome, who also needs to step up and get into winning ways. It’s entirely possible that O’Brien will dominate today with the top two places.
Running in the 5.00 at Roscommon, O’Brien has Sir Edwin Landseer, in the IRISH STALLION FARMS EUROPEAN BREEDERS FUND MAIDEN. Having run four previous races and had two-second places and two third places, O’Brien will expect big things and a step up for this horse today too. Not the favourite, but definitely in with a chance, with odds this morning of 15/8 with William Hill.
Running as favourite today is the Godolphin-owned Ice Canyon, out of three races, no wins but a second and third place. I would put my money on the in-form trainer O’Brien, he just seems to be on fire at the moment. Odds on Ice Canyon this morning are 6/4 with Paddy Power. Keep watching these young horses, they will be moved up in the coming years, great things will be expected of them.
Plenty of other racing around today with cards at Chepstow, Cartmel, Epsom, Newcastle and Ripon, as well as Roscommon in Ireland there is racing at Downpatrick. Pop back to check on all Wednesday’s cards and news, but Good Luck today.
