This is a competitive affair with nine runners all with a chance in this two and a half mile handicap chase.
Tara Road has been in completely uninspiring form of late with a number of races where he has been pulled up, however he has been running in better races than this and he has slipped to a very attractive mark if he can recapture anything like his best form. He has actually won from a mark two pounds higher than this so I am hopeful that Aidan Coleman can get him into the race early and stay with the pace.
Supreme Asset, trained by Donald McCain Jnr, was second last time out around here and has been running quite consistently. He runs from the same mark here today and is used to these tough conditions so is expected to go well. Whether he quite has the class to take a race as keenly contested as this remains to be same, however he is definitely one for the short list.
I Am Colin is the favorite and this Nigel Twiston-Davies horse won very nicely last time out at Leicester over two furlongs further than today's trip in testing conditions. He has a hefty ten pound rise in the weights to contend with after that win and this is a tougher prospect for him stepping up in class. Ryan Hatch takes the ride this time and his three pound claim will could prove useful. He is clearly is good form and if progressing again he has a great chance.
India v West Indies
The hosts India take on the West Indies in the second semi final today to see who will face England in the final on Sunday. India are extremely fortunate to still be in the competition after their incredible win against Bangladesh. They do have a very talented team however with a whole host match winners. I think the game will hinge on who goes on to get the big score out of Chris Gayle for the Windies and Virat Kohli for India. If Gayle gets himself in he is one of the most destructive players on the planet as he proved with his unbeaten hundred against England in the group stages. Kohli on the other hand has all the shots in the book and won the game against Australia comfortably in the end when it looked like they were in trouble.
I think India will come out on top in this one as they appear to have a slightly more rounded team and I am backing Kohli to again be the top run scorer in the match.
