wales-vs-portugal-euro-2016

We continued our good run of form yesterday with Spirit Raiser winning at Pontefract at 4/1 and Marcel Kittel winning a thrilling photo finish in the Tour de France at 10/1. Let's hope we can keep this run going.

Portugal v Wales

The first semi final of the European Championships takes place tonight between two teams that were definitely not fancied by most to make it this far.

Portugal are always given a chance as they have Christiano Ronaldo in their team, however he has not looked on top of his game so far in these championships and Portugal need him to start firing if they are to have a chance of winning the competition. They have looked solid and workmanlike, rather than a flair team that we would usually associate with the Portugese and Real Madrid centre half Pepe has easily been their stand out player. They will need him to continue his excellent form against a free scoring Welsh team.

Wales have exceeded all expectations by making it this far and have shown a brilliant togetherness which has really helped them. After going a goal down to Belgium and being outplayed for the first twenty minutes, they completely changed things around and were worthy 3-1 winners in the end. They had some luck go their way towards the end, but all teams require this and they rode it superbly. The downside to that game were the suspensions picked up by Aaron Rasmey and Ben Davies, as both players will surely be missed tonight.

However, I think Wales are so confident and on a massive high, that they will be good enough to really get at Portugal and I fancy them to snatch this game by the odd goal and incredibly make it to the final of a major tournament for the first time in their history.
