16:15 Salisbury
This is a fillies handicap run over ten furlongs and it has a really open looking feel to it with the outsider of the nice runners being as short as 16/1 in the betting.
Sightline is a three year old that has just had the two runs to date, winning a maiden on her previous run over this distance at Beverley. She is nicely bred, with her sire being Rock Of Gibraltor, and has plenty of scope for improvement. Her yard is also in cracking form so a big run is expected. Both of her runs to date have been on good to soft ground so I am also hopeful the firmer ground is a plus.
Bombilate runs in the Godolphin colours and she was a fine second behind a highly fancied odds on shot for William Haggas last time out. She had previously won a maiden at Wolverhampton and this kind of race looks well within her grasp. In time it looks as though a mile and a half will be more to her liking as she was staying on last time out, however at her current age this distance is fine and I expect a big run her today.
White Poppy, trained by Andrew Balding, is the highest rated in this race and she has had the four runs to date. She also won a maiden at Wolverhampton two runs ago before going close in a good race at Sandown and finishing second. Those two runs were over a mile so it will be interesting to see how she copes with the extra two furlongs here today, however, if she does then she could be a big player.
European Championships
Later on this week I will be doing a complete run down of the European Championships which will include a write up on each of the groups, together with some interesting betting angles and who I think stand the best chance of progressing from the group stages and going all the way.
