There will be a Premier League preview later on in the week but from the above, the one that stands out for me is Arsenal at 20/1. With the signing of Cech they look really strong this season and if they can add a top class striker I think they have a great chance of really challenging.

Pontefract

There is a good looking race at Pontefract today at 15:40. It is a one mile four furlongs Class three handicap and it is really tight on the betting front.

Penhill won a nice race at Ascot in May and subsequent to that ran in two races of a higher grade. He will appreciate the step back down in class but I think he is still high enough in the weights after the Ascot win. He is definitely good enough to make the frame but at the current prices there is better value to be found elsewhere.

Craggaknock is attempting to complete a hat trick after wins at Thirsk and Haydock. They were both in a lower class than this race and on softer underfoot conditions. He also has another four pounds rise in the weights to contend with and although he is definitely improving, I think this may be a step too far at the moment.

Plutocracy was favourite on his first run this season at Kempton but could only finish fourth. That run was after a long lay off so it can be assumed he should strip a lot fitter here. His mark appears to still be on the high side though and it would take a big effort to be first past the post here.

Hernandoshideaway won on his debut last year and has been a little unlucky with two second places so far this year. In both of those races he could have had a better run but they were still good performances. He hasn't run on ground as firm as today yet but there is nothing in his profile to suggest that it will be too much of a problem. Three year olds have a good record in this race having won two out of the last three (the other race didn't contain a three year old) and Hernandoshideaway looks to be really nicely weighted against his rivals here.

On the face of it this appears to be a close affair but I think Hernandoshideaway could win a shade cosily here.
