The Open

Zach Johnson emerged victorious from a three way play-off with Louis Oosthuizen and Marc Leishman. Although he missed his birdie put on the eighteenth, which was the fourth play-off hole, Oosthuizen also missed to hand Johnson the title by one shot.

Johnson had earlier shot a 66 to lead in the club house at fifteen under. Leishman then matched him with his own 66 which meant he had a total of 130 for his third and fourth rounds, a new major record. Oosthuizen still had two holes to play and he managed to make a great par at the notoriously difficult seventeenth and followed that with a birdie at the last. All this was in vein however as Johnson was able to hold his nerve the most to take the claret jug.

It had looked for a while that one of our selections, Adam Scott, would pay out for us as he was joint leader heading into the back nine. A series of disastrous bogeys, including missing a put from a foot, meant that unfortunately his challenge petered out.

Football

The new football season is only a few weeks away now and teams are really starting to step it up in their preparations. Betting on friendlies isn't always an easy proposition but if you are willing to put the work in some interesting opportunities can be found.

Bayern Munich play Inter Milan in Shanghai later on today and have already beaten Valencia here 4-1 so will be acclimatised to conditions. They should have far too much for an average Inter side and I like their chances of collecting on the handicap of minus one at 6/4.

Horse Racing

There is some pretty mediocre racing around today but there is one selection that stands out for me at Ffos Las in the 15:30 which is a seven furlong handicap.

Pharmaceutical has been expensive to follow after a really nice win on his debut. He looked to be going to right way with a narrow defeat to a higher rated Liberty Jack at Epsom three weeks ago though and if running to a similar level here will take all the beating.

Tour de France Update

There has been little movement at the top the general classification standings, as Team Sky appear too strong for any other team to be able to attack them to take time out of Froome. Peter Sagan continues to consistently collect points on each stage and is now 1/100 for the green jersey. He is still yet to win a stage at this years tour however and time is running out for him.

Today's Selections

Bayern Munich v Inter Milan - Bayern Munich -1 @ 6/4 (1 point)

Ffos Las 15:30 Pharmaceutical - 1 point @ 7/4
