The Cherries come into this match on the back of a 2-1 defeat at home against Burnley, a tough result for Eddie Howe's side.

Chris Wood marked his return to the starting XI with a goal (37), the New Zealand international making the most of his recall with a six-yard finish.

Robbie Brady doubled the Clarets lead just past the hour mark (65), with the midfielder going from assister to scorer after great work from Berg Gudmundsson.

Joshua King pulled one back for Bournemouth (79) but they could not find an equaliser in the closing stages.

For Bournemouth, it is another home defeat and for Eddie Howe it's another mixed result for his Cherries side.

The Cherries are now on a run of three wins in their last six matches, with two defeats and a draw completing the set.

Eddie Howe will need his side to dig deep if they are to gain a result here, with Southampton also in need of a win.

It was a tight contest but Guardiola's side continue their incredible run, they have dropped just two points this season.

Mauricio Pellegrino has had a mixed start to life as Southampton manager, they have had an upturn in fortunes in the last few games though.

Their record in the last six is lost three, won two and drawn one, with Liverpool, Manchester City and Burnley beating them.

Southampton find themselves in 11th place in the PL, with 16 points from their opening 14 matches.

This will be a tough match for Southampton, with Bournemouth keen to secure a much-needed home win.


Saints Favourites

Pellegrino's side come into this match as the favourites, despite the Cherries enjoying home advantage.

Southampton will be looking to continue their good recent form and gain some much-needed momentum in this match.

The Saints will be looking to make it seven wins in nine matches against the Cherries.
