Crystal Palace vs Huddersfield – Saturday 12th August 2017 – 15:00

Palace are 4/5 with Christian Benteke at 7/2 to score first.

Crystal Palace face Huddersfield at Selhurst Park on Saturday afternoon, on the opening weekend of the 2017/18 Premier League season.

The Eagles come into this match in mixed form, coming in third place of the Premier League Asia Trophy.

They beat Premier League rivals West Brom 2-0 in their final outing before the start of the new season.

Luka Milivojevic put Palace ahead (11), with a fine curling free kick after great work from Wilfried Zaha.

Bakary Sako doubled their advantage just before half time (43), giving Palace a deserved 2-0 lead.

They had to withstand some late West Brom pressure, but it's an excellent result and a clean sheet for Frank De Boer's side.

New Manager

Following the shock retirement of Sam Allardyce, it is Frank De Boer's first league game in charge of Crystal Palace.

The Dutchman will have a big job on his hands, with Palace underachieving in the last two seasons.

Given the quality of players at the club, especially in the attacking areas, they should be performing much better.

Eagles Favourites

Crystal Palace come into this match as favourites, with Palace's pedigree informing the odds.

The Eagles will be looking to win this opening fixture, facing an ideal opponent in newly promoted Huddersfield.

Palace will be looking for a first win over the Terries since 2001, a 2-1 win away from home in the Championship.

Huge Challenge

The Terriers come into this match on the back of a 2-2 draw against Torino, a great result for Wagner's men.

Edera scored the opening goal for Torino (23), with the forward squeezing past two Town defenders and slotting past the keeper.

Elias Kachunga equalised for Huddersfield (35), with Rajiv van La Parra capitalising on great build up play to assist Kachunga.

Joel Obi's header ensured that Torino took the lead again (53), with Berenguer crossing this time.

That lead lasted just five minutes, after Steve Mounie headed the ball past Milinkovic-Savic to make the score 2-2.

Tough Start

Huddersfield had a great campaign last season, with the Terriers promoted via the play off route.

It was an excellent achievement considering the calibre of sides around them, and with the lowest budget in the Championship.

David Wagner was a revelation in his first season, with the Germans infectious management style working emphatically.

They have made some excellent signings, and also keeping faith with the majority of last seasons promotion winning side.

Terriers Underdogs

David Wagner's side come into this match as underdogs, with the lack of Premier League experience counting against them.

This will be a tough match for Huddersfield, with Palace boasting some excellent attacking players.

Huddersfield will be looking to make it 6 wins in 17 matches against the Eagles.

Huddersfield are 18/5 with Steve Mounie at 17/2 to open the scoring.
