This season is a huge one for Mourinho and Manchester United.
Manchester United had a disappointing league season, with the Red Devils finishing in 6th place in the Premier League.
The Portuguese main aim this season will be returning United to the top of the Premier League, as well as challenging in Europe.
Mourinho will be looking to add quality to all areas of the pitch, he has identified four signings that will do just that.
They will find this season a tough challenge, but after last season Mourinho will know the exact demands of balancing the domestic and European title charges.
Premier League
Manchester United's opening fixture of this brand new Premier League campaign is against West Ham on Sunday 13th August, at the Theatre of Dreams.
Their next four fixtures are:
Swansea (A) 19th August
Leicester (H) 26th August
Stoke (A) 9th September
Everton (H) 17th September
This will be a mixed set of opening fixtures for United, they face none of the top six inside the first month, so it is vital they maximise these fixtures.
Based on last season the troubles will be putting games to bed, especially against the likes of Stoke. The return of Wayne Rooney against Everton is a mouth watering prospect.
Their record against the top six last season was poor overall, they were bottom of the pile against their title rivals.
Manchester United managed 18 wins during their last campaign, ending the season with 69 points, 7 behind fourth placed Liverpool.
This was an improvement on the points tally of the 2015/16 campaign, where they registered 66 points, but they registered 19 during Louis Van Gaal's final season.
European Football
They had a good season in Europe as well, ultimately winning the Europa League and securing Champions League football in the process.
United also produced a win in the EFL Cup, securing two trophies during Mourinho's debut season at the Old Trafford helm.
The big challenge for Mourinho and United will be to maintain challenges on both fronts, an extremely difficult task.
The primary aim for Jose will be to win the Premier League for the first time since Sir Alex Ferguson retired.
Transfer Activity
Manchester United already had a strong squad but they have made some expensive signings this transfer window.
They have already completed the signings of Victor Lindelof and Romelu Lukaku.
Jose has identified four signings and areas that need bolstering, with a left winger and midfielder the remaining targets.
The emphasis has been on adding quality to the squad, as well as changing the mentality of the side.
Mourinho has recently been linked with Perisic and Matic, both tall players who can add class to the squad.
Gareth Bale would be the dream signing for United, this is unlikely to happen in this window though.
Transfers In: Victor Lindelof (Benfica) and Romelu Lukaku (Everton)
Transfers Out: Josh Harrop (Preston North End), Adnan Januzaj (Real Sociedad) and Wayne Rooney (Everton)
One To Watch
Romelu Lukaku is the one to watch for Manchester United this season.
The Belgian international has huge boots to fill, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic officially released during the summer.
His pace, style and size are incredible. United have the perfect striker on their hands, providing he can continue to develop.
Manchester United will need his hold up play and goals, an area they struggled in last season.
