Newcastle come into this league on the back of a highly successful Championship campaign, where they finished the season as Championship winners.
It was a huge season of expectation for Newcastle, who had just been relegated from the Premier League and were expected to storm the Championship.
They were the biggest spenders in the league, having kept the majority of the Premier League squad and added some quality to the ranks as well.
This season will be a huge challenge for Newcastle, especially given the fans level of expectation but with Benitez, they have an excellent manager.

Newcastle's opening fixture of this brand new Premier League campaign is against Spurs on Sunday 13th August, at St. James' Park.

This will be a mixed set of opening fixtures for the Magpies, with an opening fixture against Tottenham a tough assignment.
Rafa Benitez's side will be confident of securing points in all of those fixtures though, especially given the result in their last PL game against Spurs.
They finished top of the Championship last season, narrowly beating Brighton on the final day of fixtures to secure top spot.
Huddersfield registered 29 wins during their last campaign ending the season with 94 points, one point more than second placed Brighton.
This season was an improvement on the 2015/16 campaign, where they won 9 matches and registered 37 points, finished in 18th place.
They have had a period of stability since then, with Rafa Benitez leading the charge for promotion and having amassed a wealth of managerial experience at top clubs, he will be vital in ensuring their survival.
Cup Football
As well as consolidating their position in the Premier League, Newcastle should be looking for a successful cup run as well.
They enjoyed an impressive campaign in last years EFL Cup, narrowly losing to Hull on penalties in the quarter-finals.
Newcastle endured a far less successful FA Cup run, ultimately losing 3-0 to Oxford in the third round.
This is easily an area for improvement especially to appease their fans, but they will be concentrating on consolidating their Premier League status.

Newcastle will need to add some quality to their existing squad if they are to survive in the Premier League.

One To Watch
Dwight Gayle is the one to watch for Newcastle this season.
The former Crystal Palace man was instrumental in Newcastle's promotion season, scoring 23 Championship goals.
It will be very interesting to see how he copes in the Premier League this season, he is Newcastle's main front man.
If Newcastle are to stay in the league his goals will be absolutely crucial.
