Watford come into this campaign on the back of a disappointing season overall, finishing in 17th place.
It was another season of managerial change at Vicarage Road, with Materazzi their third manager in as many years.
They struggled in all areas of the pitch last season, not helped by their manager's lack of English.
Ultimately the change in management didn't work for them, with Enrique Sanchez Flores doing a fine job the season before.
Watford will be hoping that the change to Marco Silva will bring back the successes enjoyed during Flores' time at the club.
Their main aim will be to progress up the table and produce a decent cup run.
Premier League
Watford's opening fixture of this brand new Premier League campaign is against Liverpool on Saturday 12th August, at Vicarage Road.
Their next four fixtures are:
Bournemouth (A) 19th August
Brighton (H) 26th August
Southampton (A) 9th September
Manchester City (H) 16th September
This is a tough set of opening fixtures for the Hornets, with Liverpool and Manchester City tough opponents for Watford.
The remaining fixtures against Bournemouth, Brighton and Southampton will be winnable for Silva's side.
They are games that Watford will be targeting maximum points in, as they are unlikely to get much from the Liverpool or City.
Watford registered just 9 wins during their last campaign ending the season with 40 points, 6 above Hull City in 18th.
This season was a huge disappointment on the 2015/16 campaign, where they won 12 matches and registered 45 points, and finished in 13th place.
Statistically, that season wasn't much better but when you also throw in the FA Cup Semi-Final appearance and the style of football played were huge improvements on this season.
Cup Football
As well as moving up the table in the Premier League, Watford will be looking for a successful cup run.
They were dismal in both cups last season, losing to Gillingham at home in the first round of the EFL Cup.
They also exited the FA Cup at the second time of asking, losing 1-0 away against Millwall.
Those results along with the league campaign make it one of the worst that the club has had in quite some time.
Transfer Activity
Watford's main aim will be to add some quality to their ranks, with their squad found out last season.
Their main area of weakness was the forward areas and lack of goals, but their defence was also poor.
Silva has made moves to cover all areas of the squad, signing young players with plenty of quality.
The signings of Will Hughes and Nathaniel Chalobah have seen the focus shift to youth players.
Transfers In: Daniel Bachmann (Unassigned), Nathaniel Chalobah (Chelsea), Kiko Femenia (Alaves) and Will Hughes (Derby County).
Transfers Out: Mario Suarez (Guizhou Hengfeng Zhicheng)
One To Watch
Etienne Capoue is the one to watch for Watford this season.
The former Tottenham man had an excellent start to last season and his main aim will be to continue that form.
Capoue also had an outstanding season, coming runner-up in goals scored (7), whilst registering the most passes (1483), the most shots (50) and most interceptions (59).
He is an excellent all round player and Marco Silva will be wanting to get similar performances from him.
