This will be another tough season for Bournemouth, as they look to consolidate their Premier League status and look to challenge for a top ten place.

Bournemouth finished 9th in last seasons Premier League, an incredible achievement for the Cherries and their manager Eddie Howe.

Considering it was only their second season in the top flight of English football, to finish in the top ten was one of the major success stories.

The next aim for Bournemouth will be to finish in the top ten again, consolidating their position as a Premier League outfit.

Premier League

Bournemouth's opening fixture of this brand new Premier League campaign is against West Brom on Saturday 12th August, at the Hawthorns.

Their next four fixtures are:

Watford (H) 19th August

Manchester City (H) 26th August

Arsenal (A) 9th September

Brighton (H) 15th September

This will be a tough set of opening fixtures for the Cherries, with trips to the Emirates and a home fixture against Manchester City inside the first month.

The Cherries will be targeting maximum points against Watford, West Brom and Brighton.

They played an excellent brand of football last year, scoring more goals than Manchester United and Southampton.

Bournemouth managed 12 wins during their last campaign ending the season with 46 points, which was 47 less than title winners Chelsea.

This season was an improvement on the 2015/16 campaign, where they won 11 matches and registered just 42 points and finished in 16th place.

Cup Football

As well as consolidating their position in the Premier League, the next step for Bournemouth will be to produce a successful cup campaign.

They lost to two Championship sides in Preston and Millwall in the EFL and FA Cups respectively.

This is easily an area for improvement, given the signings they are looking to make they should be able to challenge on all domestic fronts.

Transfer Activity

If Bournemouth are to improve they will need to strengthen their squad, bringing in quality to enhance both the squad and first team.

They have already completed the signing of Nathan Ake, who was an excellent player for Bournemouth during his loan stint.

Bournemouth have also completed the signing of Jermain Defoe, who will add much-needed quality in the final third.

Asmir Begovic has also been signed from Chelsea, with Bournemouth identifying that the defensive and goalkeeping positions needed strengthening.

One To Watch

Jermain Defoe is the one to watch for Bournemouth this season.

The hitman scored 15 goals for Sunderland last season, just over 50% of all of the Black Cats goals.

His arrival will mean goals, but he will link up well with the likes of Joshua King, Benik Afobe and Max Gradel.

Bournemouth will need his goals if they are to mount a serious cup and league charge.
