Burnley

Burnley come into this league on the back of a highly successful Premier League campaign, finishing 16th on the magical forty point mark.

The Clarets will be delighted with that finish, their main aim was to stay in the Premier League, they were the only promoted side to do so.

They completed their main aim but will be ultimately disappointed with their finish, failing to win any of their last three matches.

This season will be a huge challenge for Burnley, but the Clarets have an excellent manager who now knows what it takes to stay in the league.

The main aim for Burnley will be Premier League survival, but they will also be looking to progress up the league and establish themselves as a Premier League regular.

Premier League

Burnley's opening fixture of this brand new Premier League campaign is against Premier League Champions Chelsea on Saturday 12th August, at Stamford Bridge.

Their next four fixtures are:

West Brom (H) 19th August

Spurs (A) 27th August

Crystal Palace (H) 10th September

Liverpool (A) 16th September

This will be a tough set of opening fixtures for the Clarets, with an opening fixture against Antonio Conte's Chelsea a very tough assignment.

Sean Dyche's side will be confident of securing points in the fixtures against West Brom and Crystal Palace at Turf Moor.

They were excellent at home last year, with 10 of their 11 Premier League wins coming at Turf Moor, it single-handedly kept them in the league.

Burnley registered 11 wins during their last campaign ending the season with 40 points, which was six points clear of Hull who finished in 18th.

This hard fought campaign will give Burnley and Dyche the knowledge and motivation to complete back to back survival campaigns.

Cup Football

As well as consolidating their position in the Premier League, Burnley should be looking for a successful cup run as well.

They lost out to fellow Accrington Stanley in last years EFL Cup, losing in the early stages.

Burnley managed to get to the fifth round of the FA Cup, losing to Lincoln City 1-0 at home after making a whole host of changes.

This is easily an area for improvement, but they will be concentrating on consolidating their Premier League position.

Transfer Activity

Burnley will need to add some quality to their existing squad if they are to survive in the Premier League.

They have already completed three signings, with two boasting Premier League experience and Taylor has come from Championship side Leeds.

Jack Cork has made the trip from Swansea, having replaced Michael Keane who has left for Everton in a big money move.

Jon Walters brings a wealth of Premier League experience, having moved from Stoke City.

Dyche will be loathed to lose George Boyd, who has been an excellent servant for the club. He will be keen to ensure no other starts depart the club.

Transfers In: Jack Cork (Swansea City), Charlie Taylor (Leeds United) and Jon Walters (Stoke City).

Transfers Out: George Boyd (Sheffield Wednesday), Michael Keane (Everton) and Paul Robinson.

One To Watch

Jon Walters is the one to watch for Burnley this season.

The Republic of Ireland striker has arrived from Stoke, he brings goals and Premier League experience.

His arrival is a sign that Burnley have identified their forward line as an area of improvement, to support the likes of Gray and Vokes.

They only scored 39 goals last season, the third lowest in the league, only their defence kept them up.
