Everton come into this campaign on the back of an excellent campaign, finishing in 7th place.
Given the personnel in their squad it was expected they would be a top ten side but they have over achieved this season.
The challenge for this season will be to break into the top six now, with the signings they have made this is a realistic aim.
Ronald Koeman has made an impressive start to life as Everton manager, since his switch from St.Mary's.
With big name signings coming to Goodison such as Rooney they are in an excellent position, despite the departure of Romelu Lukaku.
Premier League
Everton's opening fixture of this brand new Premier League campaign is against Stoke on Saturday 12th August, at Goodison Park.
Their next four fixtures are:
Manchester City (A) 21st August
Chelsea (A) 26th August
Spurs (H) 9th September
Manchester United (A) 17th September
This is a challenging set of opening fixtures for the Toffees, with an opening fixture against Stoke one they have to capitalise on.
Their next four fixtures are exceptionally tough, facing four of the top six sides in England in successive weeks.
Three of those matches are away, with a win in any of those fixtures a tough ask, it will be interesting to see where Everton are after those matches.
Everton registered 17 wins during their last campaign ending the season with 61 points, 8 points behind Manchester United in 6th.
This season was a huge improvement on the 2015/16 campaign, where they won 11 matches and registered 47 points, but finished in 11th place.
That finish cost Roberto Martinez his job, with the home defeats costing the Spaniard.
Cup Football
As well as consolidating their position in the Premier League, Palace should be looking for a successful cup run as well.
They lost out to Championship strugglers Norwich in last years EFL Cup, losing 2-0 to the Canaries.
Everton were also dumped out of the FA Cup at the first time of asking, losing 2-1 against Leicester City.
This is easily an area for improvement, with the Toffees looking for a first trophy since the 1995 FA Cup.
Transfer Activity
Everton's main aim will be to add some quality to their ranks that will allow them to bridge the gap between themselves and the top six.
Their main area of weakness was defensively and they have made some high profile signings to rectify that.
They have signed former Manchester United players Wayne Rooney and Michael Keane, as well as Davy Klassen and Jordan Pickford.
Everton have also been linked with Gylfi Sigurdsson of Swansea, in part to replace the goals from Romelu Lukaku.
Transfers In: Michael Keane (Burnley), Davy Klaassen (Ajax), Cuco Martina (Unassigned), Henry Onyekuru (Eupen), Jordan Pickford (Sunderland), Sandro Ramirez (Malaga) and Wayne Rooney (Manchester United).
Transfers Out: Gerard Deulofeu (Barcelona), Romelu Lukaku (Manchester United), Conor McAleny (Fleetwood Town) and Aiden McGeady (Sunderland).
One To Watch
Wayne Rooney is the one to watch for Everton this season.
The England captain has decided to move back to his boyhood club and help them reach the next level.
Rooney has already shone during pre season and after his last season at United, he will be keen to prove himself again.
His main aim will be to score goals but also to help Everton win silverware, their first since 1995.
