Chelsea's Final Premier League Position: 1st
This Premier League Review sees Premier League Champions Chelsea's season assessed, ultimately it is one they will be delighted with.
The West London club came into the season on the back of their poorest Premier League finish for more than 15 years.
It was an appalling season overall, with Jose Mourinho's title winners going from heroes to zeroes.
They appointed former Juventus and Italy manager Antonio Conte, who had an excellent managerial record.
The Italian faced a tough prospect, with the top six in England tougher than any league in World football.
He also faced tough opposition in the dugout, with Conte pitting his wits against the likes of Wenger, Klopp, Mourinho, Pochettino and Pep Guardiola.
With a previous league finish of 10th, the Blues had no European football and just the domestic competitions to concentrate on.
Great Start
Antonio Conte's side made an excellent start to the season, winning all three of their opening Premier League matches.
September was a sticky period for Conte, with just one win against Leicester and two defeats against rivals Arsenal and Liverpool.
This was the catalyst for an incredible 13 game unbeaten run, which saw Chelsea ascend to the top of the Premier League.
That run was ended by title rivals Tottenham, who beat them in a thrilling match at White Hart Lane.
Chelsea would lose just two more matches in the remainder of the season, an excellent effort from the Blues.
Crystal Palace handed them a rare home defeat, and Jose Mourinho handed his old side a 2-0 defeat.
Cup Run
Chelsea also progressed to the final of the FA Cup this season, with Conte looking to emulate Carlo Ancelotti's debut season.
A league and cup double would have been a fantastic season, ultimately they lost against Arsenal.
They beat Peterborough, Brentford, Wolves, Manchester United and Tottenham before meeting Arsenal in the final.
Their 2-1 defeat in the final was a step too far for Conte's side, with the Gunners winning their previous eight matches.
Top Stats
Diego Costa was the Blues top scorer this season, with the controversial Spaniard scoring 20 goals.
Cesc Fabregas was Chelsea's top assister this season, despite the former Barcelona man a perennial figure at times.
Midfield dynamo N'Golo Kante was the signing of the season, he was crowned PFA Player of the Year this season as well.
Chelsea's season overall saw them win an incredible 30 matches, drawing 3 and losing the other 5 matches.
Their final points tally was 93, they finished seven points above their nearest rivals Tottenham Hotspur.
Thanks to the likes of Hazard, Costa and Pedro they ended the season with the league's second-best goal difference.
Transfer Speculation
Conte will be understandably keen to add to his title winning side, the priority will be replacing Diego Costa.
They have been linked with a number of players, including Everton striker Romelu Lukaku, Alexis Sanchez and Virgil Van Dijk.
John Terry has already left the club, with Diego Costa likely to depart and Cesc Fabregas rumoured to be leaving.
A striker and a defender are sure to be top of Conte's wishlist, with the added Champions League matches in prospect.
