A very disappointing end to the week on Top Picks yesterday.
A different story if you are a Values Backer,
i have it at +65pts for the week, i know most didnt get the 20s on Mr Marcasite but a few of the other winners drifted quite a bit from my early prices so it should be a realistic total.

Ratings 101.2pts staked 123.775pts returns +22.575pts
Top Picks 56pts staked 61pts returns +5pts
Values 62pts staked 127pts returns +65pts
The values have indeed been performing well and have been more profitable for me since I joined in Jan. I do like a bit of value and it doesn’t seem to really matter when you place these bets as they tend to keep the value.
Oscar, why not use split stakes – half a pt on TPs & half on the values, until your bank has increased enough to do both to full stakes?
Lets hope for a cracking Saturday and Rosie to do the biz on board her namesake, Lady Rosamund…a sign, LOL?!

According to my records on bet365. The values are up 75 points and the tops are up 1 point. Im missing all the action this month. No matter what I do I seem to miss out on the good ones. Im happy for everyone using the values but Im hoping for one of those days on the tops too the greedy values are taking over this month lol. SHOW ME THE MONEY lol

I missed the value at 20/1, saw it available at 9’s but as I was on betfair I put a ‘keep in play’ at 14 but it never went above 9 (I think!)…so was pissed off!
Mister Marcasite – only got 9.40 betfair but that’s because I don’t get a chance until lunchtime. However got 20.00 on Crack at Dawn.
(love that horse’s name – if someone is married to someone called Dawn they could wake up at the Crack “of” Dawn every day!) Was very lucky with Rebel Swing as had run out of betfair funds and had to back on a bookie (BV) instead!

i have no objection but my days profit will be at least 14 pts less due to rebel swing and 12 pts less for mister marcasite
so on one day 26 pts difference to your records. I backed rebel swing on betfair so no win and only got 8/1 on rebel swing not 20/1
i got paid from Paddy power too so unles anyone objects i think we can include it in our totals.
Daniel, don’t know the reason, must be in their rules somewhere but Betvic did the same for me, which was nice, especially as it was in Tops, Value and System !
I dont do the values so I am still 4 points down this month but I see a lot more 2nds and winners now and I remain hopefull of a magic +30 poinr day on the tops soon. Keep it up mate I need to lift up my bank 🙂

This is a BSP limit, so is difficult to implement due to its nature.
Tell me exactly what you want, and I’ll look again. I can see profit in £’s since 2008 for win and each way @ BFSP.

Everyone is going to have a different opinion on the 20 rule so i will leave them in the selections and you can decide for your selves to back or not.
Keith> Is this significant difference? Or is it only a couple of points? If it is only a few points it may make no difference one way or another. And also keep in mind that if you put a limit of 20/1 is this BSP? SP? price at the time of betting differs for everyone and for most prices you wouldnt be waiting around to SP to see if it is under 20 or over 20 so it is a rule in grey so to speak and difficult to apply equally to everyone so it would be interesting to know if it affects the overall result by much or even ignoring it the proffit would be similar

I’ve looked at 6 courses, so thats 12 settings (trainer and jockey), and the conclusion on the over 20 rule….. is inconclusive!!
That is as far as ROI goes, some are better, some are worse, this is data back to 2008. I understand that Dean’s report is based on the last 2 years, but it shows an even stronger argument for ignoring the rule here.
What is evident, is that 11 of the 12 settings show a reduced profit, both win and each way if the over 20 rule is applied. You could jig about and have different rules for each course etc, but thats backfitting something that is already essentially backfitted (based on data Dean, I’m not having a go).
Based on what I’ve seen, I’ll not bother looking at the other courses.
For me, I’m gonna continue backing them all, only takes 1 or 2 winners to make a big difference, but will probably have longer losing runs.

Good day yesterday mate. Lets see if we can end the month with a big proffit. I only follow the tops but my results are a little different to yours mate I am about 3 points down for the month instead of 10 up I guess I take always bet365 prices and those guys always steal from me but sometimes I do get the benefitis of the bog if the selection drifts or even the odd free bet. In any case we are moving in the right direction now but we still need to improve a lot more. Tell your wife you are not going on a hollyday unless you have made us 20 points proffit before you leave lol. Just kidding you diserve the rest I hope you enjoy it and come back full of beans

I have done the weekly and month so far results and while its still not brilliant we are defo heading in the right direction, the Values suprised me a bit, i hadnt realised they had done so well recently. Hopefully we can finish the month in profit and go on to have as good a summer as we had last year.

I have a subscription to Flatstats, and I’ve just entered the data into there, it gives me the alerts the night before, which suits me great, as I’m just using BFSP, so great when I’m working next day, can do night before.
Theres a few tracks where I filtered out some of the seasons, as historically they didn’t look very good, both over last 2 years, and longer.
Think I could add another filter to see if it was better under 20, which I might do if/when I get time. Will let you know. But as I had to set up two settings for each track (trainer & jockey), its not a 5 minute job.
Don’t expect every track to make a profit, but as long as I make a profit overall, I’ll be happy.

Keith, the guys who subscribe get a daily email from me with selections, i also try to keep up with any trends i notice, after going over the last six weeks results i noticed we would have saved a lot of points not backing over 20 on betfair so i advised we implement it, and ofcourse sods law we get winners over 20 including hallelujah today. What I’m saying is there is no over 20 rule as far as the info that I have.
But yes, probably will balance out over time.

keith, i think the confusion here has come about between those who subscribe to get the selections sent to them and between those that just spend the time to find the selections themselves. For those of us that subscribe Dean has said its probably not all that profitable long term backing anything over 20/1 so he takes those selections out. Obviously as you have found there will always be those big price winners that still go in so well done for backing them! Long term though it most likely will even itself out.

Although Vincentti beaten by a nose in photo finish at York 15.50 @ 90 BFSP would have been nice. Still 10.5 for the place.

Steve contradict was in the Values not the Turf Stats and as you said Libertarian was well over 20s so not a selection.
Its Very frustrating at the moment, a couple of points gained one day a couple dropped the next we cant seem to get going but one good day will make this a profitible week, im hoping thats today.
Strange Keith that neither of those turf stats horses were included in the email of selections which I elected to take, rather than continue selecting my own, in lieu of Dean’s break. Mind you odds exceeded suggested 20 or over cut off point.

I noticed Festivals are nightmares for us Im afraid. Your turf selections made losses during the chester festival and they all lost again yesterday at york.
The toptips won 1 (Ballista) out of 9 given during the chester festival, 0 out of 4 during cheltenham and now 0 out of the 2 you posted for york yesterday.
I cant wait until all this bloody festivals are over and we are left with just the normal daily racing.

Oddly I had thought about this too when there are multiple races and often thought that you were missing a trick leaving out some meetings but completely understand the time and effort in analysing each race and that it would take too long to do every one and also produce a large number of runners.
Win or lose today I think this approach is better as better class races have horses that run more true to form and where ratings are likely to be more effective, in my opinion.

I understand that it is personnel choice if a double or e/w double bet is placed but members are asking for a reason and that is because it is unclear and they do not understand how to identify these recommendations.

Dean I still found a double with my other selection Esthaal and that paid off nicely a couple of hundred pounds 🙂 If that horse came in first what a day it would have been for me I would have won over a grand. Hi Pete, i think Oscar has pretty much covered it but i will try and explain.
The Ratings where the original System and the one i still use but only because i like to bet every race, but because most people cant bet like that the Top Picks came about.
Then Late last year a member pointed out another angle and the Value selections where born, long term all 3 systems are profitible but it is absolutely essential you have a seperate bank for each one.

All services should be proffitable long term but I PERSONALLY see more value on the toptips selections. The top two are far too many for me to bother placeing so many bets everyday and the values are higher prices but that also means longer losing runs. In any case if you use more than one service you should have diffeent banks for each and around 100 point banks cause there has been drops of up to 50 or 60 points and that is the nature of this system but overall I have been using the tops only from november and I made good proffit. Take care mate and lets hope for a great day for all services.
Why have the other type of selection? I thought they were profitable according to Dean/Jason’s sales hype and most members used them because there was not as many selections and therefore not so time consuming I only bet £1 per point this is what I can afford + £40 p/m sub’s, so you can see if we have a very poor run I have to ask myself is this service for me! I was hoping to build my bank and increase my stakes but that is not happening as a new member to the service.
Lets hope today brings some profit for all no matter what selection are followed.

I was close with thath horse at 14/1 but the otherone was very disappointing yes. In fact that horse Llewellyn has been given too many chances and well handicaped and still never seems to win which must be very frustrating for the yard. Anyways good luck to all today.

A tough couple of days to be honest and yesterday was very poor with all the Top Picks and Values losing, and most not even placing.
Tony Hollis went closest for us, finishing 2nd at 12.4 BSP but well beaten by 6 lengths.
I hope I’m not going to jinx us but Saturday is normally quite good for us so let’s keep the heads up.
Lots of quality racing today, class 1, 2 & 3 where you expect form to prevail so let’s hope for a good day and some nice priced winners.

Yes Johnye I agree that this would be up to Dean..He is a fair and honest man as i can see. Its something he has to think about to keep his Clientelle. He could give them a free month as each ones membership runs out..That way he would still be getting income. E-mail each client what he is doing
Ray it wouldn’t be unheard of… When I joined, I was thinking of using the profit from the first month to pay for the second and from there on keep it self sustained, but I guess that won’t happen anytime soon.
A free month might seem like a hard thing to do, but my opinion is that giving members a free month to recoup would give those who just joined a second chance, instead of just quitting to cut losses.
That is a subject that only Dean can have a say, all we can do is decide if we keep using the service or not, depending on how much money each one is capable of investing.

I’ve mainly been following the top picks Pete. Admittedly i did change my betting strategy about five or six weeks ago from level stakes to a percentage of overall bank and had i not done this i would still be a few hundred quid up on the top picks from ten pound level stakes. However taking into account subscriptions would have been about level. Sadly i also made the mistake of following the values about the same time as i changed strategy and im over three hundred down on that from ten pound level stakes. So I’ve been a bit incompetent / unlucky strategy wise, whatever you want to call it, but even taking that away its still not been a roaring success. I certainly wouldn’t give up though if i were you, I’ve seen enough in this time to know that Dean will get it back on track eventually, especially in these upcoming summer months, its just very frustrating at the moment, im not sure what’s going wrong.
