Horse-Racing-Trading-Strategies

One of our members 'Ray' has kindly offered to share his back to Lay selections on here for us to follow! Basically Ray selects horses which he thinks will shorten in price in running and then Lays them off during the race. Ray has had great success with his trading strategy and he would like to share his tips right here for you.

Hi Guys

I’m Ray 37yrs old and been trading on the Betfair markets for several years, I am what you call an In Running Trader
I concentrate on Horses who are likely to front run but this on its own just isn’t enough,Im also looking for a Horse who responds to pressure and also travels well and trades well on the ground.
I go through alot of historical data and Horses are reautures of habit and tend to run the same as they did previously
I will be putting my selections up every evening for the following days racing before 9pm
Just before the off I will back the selection and look to lay it off at a lower price in running roughly around half its BSP
Example One- Back Tornado In Milan @ 6.2 Lay Tornado In Milan @ 3.1 (Half of 6.2=3.1) What I suggest is to lay it a few ticks higher @ 3.5

Example Two Back Robert The Painter @ 11.5 Lay it @ 5.7 (Half its BSP) Few ticks higher 6.2

Its a lot easier once you have done this a few times but any questions please feel free to ask
A lot of my trades will come in no doubt about that, but I do not win every trade just most of them,I trade £50 and make £47.5 after Betfair Comm, and once I have two trades in the bag I stop for the day and Im happy making £95 a day 6 days a week.

So Thanks for giving me a go,Now lets make some dosh!

Due to conditions and the past few days results I am not happy and working on some filters and will be back Saturday

Most of the selections are trading lower but not low enough for us to profit

    See You Saturday

  6. Hi Ray,
Thanks for sharing these selections and strategy.
My question is the same as Johnny’s below.
It looks to me as though you are backing for £50.0 and laying off for £100.0, relying on it running well but not winning. Is this correct?
I guess it is easy to omit the obvious when it is second nature to you, doing this all the time.
    Best
    Malcolm

    1. Seems this way to me. As for relying on it not winning, it doesn’t matter, the trade is complete once the inplay odds have been reached.

I’m interested in the trade out options used when things don’t go to plan.

  7. Hi Ray
Interested in your trading strategy, don’t fully understand how you make those profits but would like to give it a try
    Many Thanks

  8. Hi Ray,good luck with your venture, and thanks for posting your selections, just a couple of questions if I may,if/when your lay bet is matched, are you greening up across the field or leaving a risk free bet on your selection?

Also,I take it to actually win £7,is your initial back bet much higher to achieve this?

    Kind Regards,Johnny

Selecions for Monday will follow shortly

    Ray

    1. Monday 25th Jan 2016
If any of these horses are trading below 3.0 I tend to ignore them,If your are more cautious punter use a calculator and divide the BSP by 1.5 and this will be the price you get out….ie (Back)5.5 divide 1.5 = (Lay) 3.6
      Kemp 105 Followthetracks
      Newc 230 Clan Legend
      Kemp 240 Closing Ceremony
      Kemp 345 Galway Jack
      Wolv 400 All The Winds
