15:35 - Coolmore Nunthorpe Stakes
The main race of day three is a Group 1 five-furlong dash, and it looks a fascinating race.
The brilliant Lady Aurelia is the current 6/4 favourite, after her eye-catching win at Royal Ascot where she led them along until the final furlong where Velazquez pushed the button and she flew away from the field. Dettori is back on board today and although the ground will be very different to what she encountered at Ascot, she has won on soft before so it should hold no worries. Being a three-year-old filly, she receives the maximum weight allowances here today which is a huge advantage, and if she runs up to her best, she will be extremely hard to get past.
The other three-year-old is Battash, who has also been impressive this year, improving with each race. He won a Listed and Group 3 race at Sandown, before coping with softer conditions excellently at Goodwood and winning a Group 2 there really impressively. He beat Profitable a similar distance to that of Lady Aurelia at Ascot, so looks primed to give her a run for her money. He is likely to be staying on strongest at the finish and I can't wait to see if he has what it takes to get past the Wesley Ward runner.
14:25 Wetherby's Hamilton Lonsdale Cup Stakes
The is a two-mile marathon and Dartmouth will again carry the Queen's colours. He was an excellent winner here in soft conditions in May, before running a good race behind Idaho in fourth place at Ascot. He steps up to two miles for the first time today and I imagine he won't want them to go off too quickly, otherwise, his stamina is going to be really tested.
The current favourite is the Willie Mullins trained Thomas Hobson, and he will have no problems with staying the trip. He was a brilliant winner of a strong handicap at the Royal meeting, before just failing to make in two wins in the week when finishing second in a Conditions Race on the Saturday. He is a 150 rated hurdler so has an abundance of stamina, and as long as he doesn't get too outpaced, he will be flying at the finish.
