Starting today with Epsom, the Investec Oaks is taking centre stage and of course the top trainers and the top horses will be vying for this coveted trophy this afternoon.
Number one horse Minding is the bookies favourite, the Aidan O’Brien trained horse lost her last race the 1000 Guineas in Ireland after banging her head at the start. This then opened the field up for the late entry today, Skiffle who won her last race and trainer Charlie Appleby thinks she can now give the seemingly unbeatable Minding a run for her money.
I get lots of free tips sent to me on a daily basis, today for the Investec Oaks I’ve had tips for nearly every horse in the race, each tipster convinced their choice is the right one that will win. So what does that say about this race, it's more open than ever? O’Brien has trained five Oaks winners and if Mindings last run was a blip we can expect the bookies to have their day today, but there are some other good priced horses in the Oaks that warrant a mention.
O’Brien has two other horses racing in the Oaks today, Somehow and Seventh Heaven, so he’ll be hoping for maybe two to be placed, I don’t think Minding will lose today, her trainer says she has travelled well and is in good form. Somehow has a good parentage of Oaks winners, she has also travelled well and could be the one to watch for an each way place. Seventh Heaven is not to be ruled out either, if she is in good form today she could do well as she is improving all the time.
One of the tips I received today was for Diamonds Pour Moi, I’m not sure she’s ready to take first place in this race, but in saying that, there are nine runners today, over one mile four furlongs and ten yards and the going is good to soft. Ryan Moore is riding Minding today and William Buick is on Skiffle, so it’s not just a battle of the horses.
Odds today are Minding: 6/5 with Paddy Power, Skiffle is 6/1 with Ladbrokes, Somehow is 8/1 with Bet365 and Seventh Heaven is 25/1 with Coral, less with some other bookmakers. Diamonds Pour Moi is 18/1 with Bet365, again less with other bookies. Look back tomorrow for news on the days racing and a look forward to Royal Ascot next week.
Good Luck
