why i like sps ..the main reason is for people who havnt got the time or various online accounts ..i had this problem a few years back in fact dont spend half the time i used to on betting ..do volountary work part time just now so my time is limited but like Deans ratings or wouldnt be spending as much time on them..
been studying all aspects of horse racing over 15 years now ..took me 10 years to get into prfitable betting ..have a portfolio of winning services and profitable systems ..believe me vast majority are a complete waste of time ..Deans def got something thats why iam spending time on them..

just read my last post and i might not have said what i meant. i know what deans results were as i habe looked them over previously i just didnt bother to check any other angles ie .1 to .4 top rated or second rated as both the top picks and ratings were flying even with smaller prices top picks were about 20% roi. My angle ..BEST PRICES 77 PER CENT PROFIT…SPS 41 PER CENT PROFIT..LOT FEWER BETS SO CAN HAVE HIGHER STAKES …44 PER CENT STRIKE RATE WIN AND PLACED ..IDEAL FOR EACH WAY BETS BECAUSE OF THE HIGHER PRICES..8 week period when any profit otherwise has beem minimunm and to sps a LOSS..
iam going to look at another angle iam sure Deans getting wrong …most of the time if 2 horses are advised at split stakes e.g 0.5 0.5 the bigger priced horse will be the VALUE ..
Also noticed in Deans comments over the weeks he said that couldnt split a couple of horses think they were both 0.5 …said he took the lower priced horse and the higher priced horse won ..happened a couple times i think …higher priced horse is the obvious value over long term will make the biggest profits ..thought this was a no brainer ..why back a top rated horse with a lesser stake to another horse wich is rated loer and is a smaller price …Everything ive read and the people i know who bet seriously would never recomend this way of thinking..About getting the best out of your bets ..dont know anyone who gives out as many bets and doesnt know there most valuable bets or best bets 1 or 2 a day…

love to go through all the stats over 4 or 5 months ..yes sure they would be in profit but would be good to get the best way of using these to best effect and to cut down on a lot of the bets that iam sure are no value…
since this service began as payment service iam more than sure nobody would be making a profit to sps on picks or ratings and even if you achieved best price on every bet your profits if any would be very minimum…19 per cent strike rate on picks with plenty favourites thrown in…

appreciate the time you put in as i say like anything more time you put into anything greater the rewards…surely not every race is worth rating as you say yourself some terrible racing somedays …this means you should know the good races from the bad why not rate the better ones the ones with more potential..if you could cut your workload by half would have more time to go over prices stats etc…most profitable angles would cut down on rating every horse..

Tell you what christine spend 12 hours a day rating every horse then see how much time you have left to go over every single detail. i am not disputing you may have found a profitible angle, if you have thats great thats what its all about at the end of the day, but its because i spend so much time on the ratings that you can find these angles.
never said you never had big priced winners thats the main reason iam sticking with your ratings ..its when there is a big priced bet in your picks ..why do it at 0.4 or less in your dutching when its top rated and a decent price a lot more profit when it wins and they do more often than you seem to think…why pick another horse wich isnt top rated and a smaller price to back with more money.bookies get thier prices right most of the time but whole point is having an advantage and using it to its bext extent..
are you trying to say you have been unlucky horses coming second could have won …could have didnt if you have dozens of bets a day going to have plenty of these..also mentioned had horses that won when equally rated 0.5 but couldnt split them …higher priced won …no brainer highest priced horse ia always the value…

theres been no profit in your top picks …dutching or backing all your top rated overall in last month or since payment bagan..to sps ..hundreds of bets geting best prices on all of them takes time various accounts wich most people dont have..also the profits you quote to best prices very small indeed..

give these out as your max bets level stakes each way ..other bets you give are fine sure they will be making a good profit soon enough..anything you have as top rated you would usually give out at 0.1 to 0.4 in your DUTCHING..sure there nearly always 0.3 to 0.4…
just have a look at the bets you give as top picks and look at the ones that you rate 0.1 to 0.4 sure 99 per cent are 0.3 or 0.4 .exellent week so far obviouslly not all weeks the same ..think you will find out that your best profits have been this angle if you take six or so months into the factor…a lot fewer bets lot more profit and each way good strike rate much bigger prices…

If a horse is top rated in your rating why give it at say 0.3 0.4 when its clearly top rated and a good price why back it with anything less than 0.6 ..you not trust your ratings do you have more faith in bookmakers prices..
look at your top picks this week for example winners 14to1 16to1 0.3 0.4 couple big priced placed as well considering only a few bets has to be something in it .
recomendation your top picks usually 90 per cent 0.5 above ..include more 0.1 to 0.4 guarentee if you study these further and use say 20 to 30 per cent of these in your picks profit will increase …strike rate slightly less but not a massive difference like you think,,
most people seem happy with the odd big priced winner this great if your on an overall profit ..thats your second biggish priced winner in last few days both under 0.5 ..your winners 0.5 above 2to1 11to4 etc ..believe me you should look at your strike rates with bigger smaller priced horses not a massive gap betwwen them like the way you would think..the way you back them 99 per cent of the time ..
ok say its top rated and the average prices for those bets is say 4to1 ..when a horse is say 8to1 this must be exceptional valueyour best picks must be rated on VALUE you have to know when one of these isnt i.e when its 6to4 2to1 etc. ..you have to know your stats inside out thats how i know there is value in your bigger priced 0.1 to 0.4 ..when the 2 horses are both 0.5 value has to be in the higher priced horse …you had this trouble a couple of times and seems the higher priced horse won no brainer …
yes entirely understand you need to use the smaller priced horses to higher stakes but not as often as to be not getting the most out of it..you have to when the value is in backing both of them to level stakes ..say you get a horse at 5to2 10 out of 10 races and you know it will win at least 3 of these yes thats value ..its when you have a 7to1 shot and you know its capable of winning it at least twice you have the true value i.e two in same race what one to back and at how much..
I dont know how you can say i am scared of bigger priced bets we have just had a 14/1 winner and there are prices like that in there every day but at the end of the day the ratings are done without ever looking at a price so whatever is top rated is a selection whatever the price.
yes thats why your profits will never be at thier best smaller priced horses hardly ever value your covering bets by DUTCHING i know but being scared of the bigger priced bets is a negative in the long run ..strike rate a lot higher but VALUE very rarely…
Yes Dean believe you do get these prices also that the vast majority of the year you do make a decent profit..Certain things i dont like bugbear of mine services giving figures to best prices PRICEWISE an example next to no one achieves his prices..could name a couple of good services whos figures are always to SP and who state that using best prices arnt entirely honest and can be decieving..Iam trying to get the best out of your ratings and think your missing out on the best way to use them yourself VALUE best value not in lower priced horses ..Dutching is a good thing but smaller priced horses should not be backed that way 90 per cent of the time like you do..be happy to talk with you one to one on this or anything else would be benefitial both ways i think..
Christine we are dutching the 2 horses so of course the smaller price horse gets the bigger stake thats the only way it can work its nothing to do with value. Value doesn,t have to mean a horse is 10/1 it all depends on what chance you or i think it has, even money or odds on can be value if the horse has an exceptional chance. As i said before its obvious we are never gonna agree and i cant see you sticking around to see long term profits so i wish you well for the future.

Christine i have never manipulated any prices or results the prices stated are the prices i get early morning and i try and get them on here as early as possible so you guys can get the same or as near to as possible and yes you are right in the last 2 months im not in a great deal of profit but thats the way it works sometimes, long term this does work and long term it has always and will always make profit which is good enough for me.
VALUE true meaning..your picks today average price going on your prices about 11to2 average price 0.6 to 0.9 today 4to1 probally average for whay you give out ..last few weeks picks average strike rate 19 per cent 0.1 to 0.4 average strike rate 13 per cent but the prices on these usually about double the picks prices same with the winners..VALUE to you means the smaller priced bets get a bigger bet i.e. 0.8 0.9 2to1 or below …All professionals know the true meaning of value probally most important thing to them…
90 per cent of my bets iam using bet365 ..i write all my bets prices etc down iam losing on both your top picks and top two ..iam winning using 0.1 to 0.4 level stakes ..since the pay service began iam more than certain very few if any are in profit using your methods ..i know you are and you can only be up small percentage profit and your acchieving the best prices as you have said..
my two online bookmakers i use PADDYPOER and my main one because i consider it the best BET365 ..dont think normal people ever going to accieve deans prices work family etc..As for acchieving the best prices yes always the best way common sense but using these in your figures is manipulation of figures can make 19 per cent strike rates at average sps 7to2 look good..

Christine yes when weekly and monthly totals are done commission is taken into account but betfair is not used as much as it used to be i have found having a few different accounts and using oddschecker to source the best prices works better especially early morning bet365 is usually best. Of course my prices are better than sp,s isnt that the whole point trying to get value why would you back at sp when better prices are clearly available, we are obviousley never gonna agree on this but it has worked for me for 4 years so i will continue to do it that way.

your ratings are not making a profit or your picks in the last month to sps…over 40 bets today doesnt matter if your dutching when you look at most of the winning prices not great..lot of bets and effort for little reward..remember looking at september not in great depth though ..people were complaining that they werent getting prices then ..certainly not been in profit at sp in ratings or picks 2 months not good.. think you had few terrible days in september and bad weeks..
Dean could you please answer do you take commision into account on your final figures also why say prices even themselves out when clearly they dont..would think your profits would be halved going on sps or even making a profit into a loss.

yes dutching i know but your still not taking into ACccount the true value of the bigger price horses as far i can see ..just backing the bigger price horses to level stakes has made a good profit backing the others at the smaller prices even at your 0.8 0.9 makes a loss at SP..
Hi Christine no i havent changed anything, i had £3 on it because the other selection was 5/2 and needed £7. Value is definately taken into account but it has to be value for both selections in the ratings the system is to dutch both horses.

Hi Dean looks like your 0.1 to 0.4 bets are more than often more than double the price of your 0.6 to 0.9 bets …Doesnt look like you take value into account wich could make a big difference in the end ..looking at your ratings wich i think are good think they could be better with the Value factor taken into account…last 3 weeks strike rate 15 per cent more than double your 0.4 and above prices …your 0.4 and above have not been 30 per cent strike rate so makes common sense if you think about it…

Hi Dean yes i fully understand that 0.1 equals a pound 0.2 2 pound 0.9 9 pounds or however much your doing…was trying to say anything from 0.1 to 0.4 has been very PROFITABLE in the last 3 weeks unlike your top picks ..doing them at 10 pound a bet has been making a good profit like i say …Think this is because the prices are much better and 15 per cent strike rate at these prices is PROFITABLE.your best picks prices are a lot smaller so i know by this you dont take value into account when doing ratings wich is a shame considering VALUE is really important …

I just want to point out Christine that 0.6 etc is not a rating but the stake (1pt divided between the 2 horses)
I know the strike rate is down since we started the service and i have to be honest and say i dont know why this is but previous months have certainly not been inflated,all results were first given as selections on this site which many of you will already know. As for prices i dont think the top picks have been particularly short priced lately ive tried to eliminate the really short priced favourites recently and the majority of selections are available at decent prices.
Ofcourse we are never all going to get the same prices and even though you disagree the prices do even out over time, that said all selections are on here very early to allow all members to get those prices. As for the other comments concerning the way things are done, i can only answer that by saying i have been doing the ratings for 4 years now and long term they have always been profitible i cut out sundays because in that time they very rarely were profitible if i could i would cut out weekends alltogether as sometimes saturdays can be like a lottery but its most peoples favourite day so i keep doing them, the same as when i think its a bad day, people are paying money for the selections so i provide them and its ultimately down to you to make the decision to bet or not.

I have followed dean for awhile and his stats are accurate if you can get the prices so for top picks you will generally achieve 20 to 30 points less profit per month than what Dean does although that obviously will vary a lot

Christine, look, I know the top picks have generally been bad in October but the Ratings have still been very good. October is renowned as a bad month as the jumps gets underway and the flat finishes. Dean has said as much himself. I’m hanging on to see how his tips perform over the jumps. Before Dean charged for this service, he published his tips for free on this site for a few months over the summer and they were very very good. I think he’s got something, I really do. Nobody produces profitable months every month. What other tipsters can you recommend?

Why hasn’t my assessment been included Dean? It is only to your advantage that there is a critical viewpoint as it will only improve the overall outcome.
Thanks guys It’s unfair for me to make any criticism on one piece of success at 8/1 and a 50% strike rate, he he he, but I do feel strongly that ratings have to be treated only as guidelines. Very often they are unreliable because the class of the race is too low, and it is too easy to introduce horses and manipulate the system. In other words horses are not run to win very often at this level because of the penalties incurred so therefore you are dealing with the pschology of racing and if you don’t have the inside information from trainers etc any donkey can win these low grade races. So, therefore without going into my methods I suggest you first of all use ratings only as guidelines and that you stay well clear of sellers,2 year old races,apprentice races,and everything below grade 3 races.Try and think from a trainer’s point of view. Does he have two in the race for instance? They are coupled in FRance for a reason! We still do not get the weight of the horses for instance.We talk about a horse getting a 7 lb penalty for winning a race, but if it has deliberately been ‘resting in a field’ it could actually be running with a 20lb penalty, so in fact we can’t be sure that the horse is fit to do it’s best.They weigh the dogs and certainly is done in America. You will always have the trainers up in arms about possibly introducing the weighing of horses in this country .I wonder why? So to finish, don’t let’s forget about the greedy jockeys. The top ones will always be trying in the big races to take their % of the purse so unless the horse is a pace maker? you can bet your life they are out to win. Here is the time to get the ratings out and assuming that the ‘going’ is suitable they can be of great assistance. Be careful my friends for the world is full of trickery. Morning Dean. I meant for the ratings rather than the top picks. If I have 5 pounds rather than 8 on a 9/4, then it doesn’t make as much difference as having 3 rather than 5 on a 10/1. Do you see what I mean? Obviously I’ve only been following your picks for a couple of months, so I didn’t know whether there was any data about what % of winners were first or second pick. Christine personally i prefer the jumps but as far as the ratings go i have never noticed any great change in the profit/loss the transition periods between the two have always been the most difficult to predict.
A lot of short prices today so a lot of NO BETS on the ratings but a couple of good priced selections on top picks which ive put in to place missing agent in particular i think has a really good chance.
i base all deans results on starting prices as not got the time to get best prices wich is unfortunate but still breaking even ..can i ask Dean with the start of the national hunt proper do you prefer the flat or jumps and are your profits sinilar on both …much appreciated for your input certainly like that you help us and give us feedback …

Today I did Bennys Quest, Kalani King and Hillview Boy which lost but also High Resolution which came in at over 10s. For a £1 stake,I made £7.47 from £4 bet. Which did you bet on?
you also have to take into account the reduction factors for non runners That would have made Bennys closer to a 6/1 chance earlier in the day and Deans 8/1 would also have had such reductions
Hi steve the answer is yes there are several defining factors to determine a bet. Lets take a look at todays first top tip…2.30 Worcs Bennys Quest . Quoted at 8/1 by Dean. First i look at market on Betfair and that shows that its highest matched price was 5.7 just over 9/2 This is backed up by the industry pricing which opens up at around 5/1 It was available at 888 and Blue Square at 6/1 around 9am but the max Blue Sq allowed me was £20 and when i entered 888 price they changed price on me to 5/1. So for the purposes of pice qualification i use 5/1 for Bennys Quest You have to do all this price checking so as to verify a bet.But as it is now a 5/2 shot it qualifies as at least a 40%+ reduction. If Dean did manage to get 8/1 good luck to him but i cant find that price anywhere
Marc, I was interested in your 25% price drop tip selection. I worked it out from yesterdays ratings and got slightly different results. I based it on official SP. I have to add that i couldnt seperate finesse and gull rock on my ratings (2-40 lei) and in the past i have opted for the shorter priced runner and it has usually back fired so ive gone for finesse which i think has a cracking chance and is good value.

Good results yesterday again both the winners came from the horses i didnt get at deans prices but only .3 difference. Got on late today so a few have shortened (and some at longer odds aswell about 1.1 points down on deans prices overall) hopefully they all come in and we have a five or six winner day. Hi guys i will try and answer all your questions the best i can, first of all i totally agree that sp backers will not make as much profit but that is why the selections are on here early giving everyone enough time to get early prices.
@gary i would have to disagree that if it cant make profit at betfair sp its no good prices just before the off can change dramatically on betfair, i do agree we need some sort of uniforming but im not sure how we can do it.
@marc i know you disagree about the prices evening out over time but my past experience with the system tells me they do, i know since we went live with the system most of the selections have been favourites so it hasnt been apparent but it has happened that way in the past, i dont know if there are so many faves because i am now charging for the system and its something im doing sub consciously or if its just the way its working out i guess time will tell. The figures quoted are certainly not just to make the system look good they are simply the prices i take on a morning when all my ratings bets are placed and there has to be more than £2 available but you will rarely see £100 available early morning.
What Simon has posted is spot on the key to making profit is getting value, one aspect of that is getting better than sp.
@alex A Top pick obviously has to be the top rated horse in the race after that its down to my judgement, sometimes i will put one in that is short priced but i think has an excellent chance sometimes a bigger price that might not have as good a chance on paper but i think is good value.
i think as we are mainly using betfair then we should use betfair sp then everyone will get the same profit and loss.dean does deserve to get the best prices but if it cant make a profit on betfair sp its no good to anyone.it as got to be a level playing field for everyone concerned.
Christine why are you “happy with the prices”??When if you dont get what Dean quotes you lose!! And how do you know what bankroll anyone has?? And why is any legitimate question “negative” when we are all paying for this service? All questions were asked of Dean. No one asked if you BELIEVE or not.It is to everyones benefit that we ask questions so as to understand and prosper from Deans undoubtable talent.
iam happy with the prices i believe they will even out over a longer period as you have to look at prices over months not weeks…no reason to think anyone on here backing deans tips in thousands …why do people always look at the negative usually the people who dont have the betting bank in place and who cant afford to have any sort of losing run..
If you therefore use this info to your advantage you can make it pay using a staking plan. For example todays top tips prices are all at almost 1pm still available ( thats rare for his top picks). The one thats dropped a in price significantly is Quinsman 2.50 sedgfield. The next one to drop the most so far is Fast Finnian.maybe these are the two with the best chance Lets see!! Dean maybe you could let us know if you have found this to be a profitable way forward, or is it just over the last two months that this has proven to be true.
Re prices.I have followed Deans info carefully and you will not make his figures by prices “evenining themselves out, in the long run” His selections obviously include lots of favourites. The ones of these that win are often well backed. So re his tips// winners drop in price losers drift.So to make it pay you MUST get the prices he quotes. Some of these are available but most are not. Some are so far off the mark that if you get on at the wrong price, you will not win even when he wins.Even if he makes 80pts in a mont, SP backers cannot win anything like that amount thats a certainty. For me its not right to quote a price that £2 is available on the back side on Betfair early in the morning. The price quoted should be best Industry price or one that at least say £100+ is available on the exchanges. This is not to say i dont think Dean is good and we can all win, its just not right to quote such prices to make monthly figures look good.
Top picks are back to normal and again on average i have gotten better prices than you Dean (about 2.2 points up over all 8 top picks) but lets see which ones come through.
Last week has been excellent lets hope it continues.
I go with the top picks rather than the ratings (now) because they do get a better return on investment and i only have a small bank to go with the top 2 ratings as well i believe i would need 4 times the capital but would only get 2.5 times the money approx (looking at your past results). I probably will get back on them eventually as i enjoy looking over all of the results but for now though top picks it is.
ps dean what a are the qualifications for a top pick from your ratings, (if it is not a national secret).
Good morning i think the price discussion could go on forever and of course we are never all going to get the same price but the system is essentally based on my own personal bets which are placed early morning and im up at 4am to make sure the ratings are done in time and selections on here as early as possible for you guys to get good prices aswell but as was said on the other page over time the prices do even themselves out, i know it hasnt looked that way over the past few weeks through our bad patch but you will start to see it. Alex the ratings havent picked up aswell as the top picks im having some really good priced winners but the consistency isnt there at the moment but i think im the only one who bets every race so im just happy top picks are getting back to normal.
Ps if anyone knows of another tipster with as good a record let me know and ill have a look for a few months and join up with them as well. Pss i think we should start getting some data together on the prices and work out the best way and time to get the prices every dollar counts good luck tomorrow
Continuing on the prices. People are concerned about prices because they are important. If you are betting on someone elses tips prices are all you have controll over do you want to make sure you can get the best possible. I believe i get more than half of the prices above deans BUT i am not so sure about the prices of the winning horses. having watched and on occasion used deans tips i do not expect to achieve his results especially for top picks as there is no one out there who consistently makes 30% plus with or without loosing months 10% is a very good return

why i like sps ..the main reason is for people who havnt got the time or various online accounts ..i had this problem a few years back in fact dont spend half the time i used to on betting ..do volountary work part time just now so my time is limited but like Deans ratings or wouldnt be spending as much time on them..
been studying all aspects of horse racing over 15 years now ..took me 10 years to get into prfitable betting ..have a portfolio of winning services and profitable systems ..believe me vast majority are a complete waste of time ..Deans def got something thats why iam spending time on them..
sorry in an earlier post figures where for 3rd to 8 th september..just started going through septembers stats for these ..october was in profit to SPS..
sorry to be critical sometimes i know you put a lot of work into your ratings etc..just a bugbear of mines services always quoting best prices ..think sps give you the best idea of any service..always said liked your ratings always think its about getting the best out of things..best bets fewer bets always been what i strive for in my betting..
ANOTHER ANGLE THATS BEEN PROFITABLE …USING SAME IDEA ..LOOKS LIKE DEANS BEEN UNDERESTIMATING HIS BIGGER PRICED BETS ..anything in his dutching ie his split stakes thats 0.1 to 0.4 doesnt have to be in his PICKS ..a lot more bets if you like to bet this way..been in profit to SPS over the last 4 weeks a lot more profitable to best prices obviously ..just started looking into these further ..tues 3rd to sat 8th ..98 bets 14 winners 21 placed ..to level stakes 10 pound a bet ..980 pound staked 260 pounds profit …this is to best prices but will give you them to sps once i work them out…

just read my last post and i might not have said what i meant. i know what deans results were as i habe looked them over previously i just didnt bother to check any other angles ie .1 to .4 top rated or second rated as both the top picks and ratings were flying even with smaller prices top picks were about 20% roi. I was wo dering how the higher priced runners were doing during that period. i should have checked it out myself at the time as i had a couple of theories bit never did and now all my time has been stolen.
My angle ..BEST PRICES 77 PER CENT PROFIT…SPS 41 PER CENT PROFIT..LOT FEWER BETS SO CAN HAVE HIGHER STAKES …44 PER CENT STRIKE RATE WIN AND PLACED ..IDEAL FOR EACH WAY BETS BECAUSE OF THE HIGHER PRICES..8 week period when any profit otherwise has beem minimunm and to sps a LOSS..
iam going to look at another angle iam sure Deans getting wrong …most of the time if 2 horses are advised at split stakes e.g 0.5 0.5 the bigger priced horse will be the VALUE ..
Also noticed in Deans comments over the weeks he said that couldnt split a couple of horses think they were both 0.5 …said he took the lower priced horse and the higher priced horse won ..happened a couple times i think …higher priced horse is the obvious value over long term will make the biggest profits ..thought this was a no brainer ..why back a top rated horse with a lesser stake to another horse wich is rated loer and is a smaller price …Everything ive read and the people i know who bet seriously would never recomend this way of thinking..About getting the best out of your bets ..dont know anyone who gives out as many bets and doesnt know there most valuable bets or best bets 1 or 2 a day…
always thought Deans been underestmating his bigger priced horses …these are the stats figures of the 0.1 to 0.4 bets 99 per cent 0.3 0.4 these are nearly always bigger prices averaging out a lot higher than his 0.6 and above..these bets are also top rated and in in DEANS picks..mon 3rd september to date sat 28th october..i base these on level stakes 10 pound a bet..70 bets 12 winners 19 placed …700 staked ..PROFIT 540 POUNDS ..THESE ARE BASED ON THE PRICES dean QUOTED …BUT TO SPS still making a good profit …win and placed strike rate 44 PER CENT ..ideal for each way betting i think better prices good strike rate…
love to go through all the stats over 4 or 5 months ..yes sure they would be in profit but would be good to get the best way of using these to best effect and to cut down on a lot of the bets that iam sure are no value…
since this service began as payment service iam more than sure nobody would be making a profit to sps on picks or ratings and even if you achieved best price on every bet your profits if any would be very minimum…19 per cent strike rate on picks with plenty favourites thrown in…

appreciate the time you put in as i say like anything more time you put into anything greater the rewards…surely not every race is worth rating as you say yourself some terrible racing somedays …this means you should know the good races from the bad why not rate the better ones the ones with more potential..if you could cut your workload by half would have more time to go over prices stats etc…most profitable angles would cut down on rating every horse..

Top picks are a relatively new thingfor dean i believe he used to just dutch top two for a long time but added top picks for us they are still evolving there was a lot more shorter priced horses during the flat season anx he had a great runwith his naps

Tell you what christine spend 12 hours a day rating every horse then see how much time you have left to go over every single detail. i am not disputing you may have found a profitible angle, if you have thats great thats what its all about at the end of the day, but its because i spend so much time on the ratings that you can find these angles.

never said you never had big priced winners thats the main reason iam sticking with your ratings ..its when there is a big priced bet in your picks ..why do it at 0.4 or less in your dutching when its top rated and a decent price a lot more profit when it wins and they do more often than you seem to think…why pick another horse wich isnt top rated and a smaller price to back with more money.bookies get thier prices right most of the time but whole point is having an advantage and using it to its bext extent..
are you trying to say you have been unlucky horses coming second could have won …could have didnt if you have dozens of bets a day going to have plenty of these..also mentioned had horses that won when equally rated 0.5 but couldnt split them …higher priced won …no brainer highest priced horse ia always the value…

RATINGS as you quote in your weekly profit and loss..if a horse is top rated in your ratings and a decent price why give the second rated wich is a smaller price 0.5 plus why back it to equal stakes or more…you trust bookmakers prices more than your ratings ..backing these horses to bigger stakes would increase any profits your making …only angle in any of your bets thats in a profit to sps in last month…
theres been no profit in your top picks …dutching or backing all your top rated overall in last month or since payment bagan..to sps ..hundreds of bets geting best prices on all of them takes time various accounts wich most people dont have..also the profits you quote to best prices very small indeed..

give these out as your max bets level stakes each way ..other bets you give are fine sure they will be making a good profit soon enough..anything you have as top rated you would usually give out at 0.1 to 0.4 in your DUTCHING..sure there nearly always 0.3 to 0.4…
just have a look at the bets you give as top picks and look at the ones that you rate 0.1 to 0.4 sure 99 per cent are 0.3 or 0.4 .exellent week so far obviouslly not all weeks the same ..think you will find out that your best profits have been this angle if you take six or so months into the factor…a lot fewer bets lot more profit and each way good strike rate much bigger prices…

this weeks figures so far based on 0.1 to 0.4 backed at level stakes the way i prefer to do it…these are based on sps so probally get a better profit if you got the best prices…56 bets 4 winners 17 placed slight loss 30 pounds based on 10 pound per bet..but in profit overall …2nds this week at 13to2 7to1 4to1 9to2 7to1 9to2 6to1 4to1 8to1 14to1 so you can see bit unlucky …previous two weeks in profit 25to1 22to1 winners etc.still think this is the best way ok deans picks better this week but mainly because 2 winners 14to1 16to1 0.3 0.4..
If a horse is top rated in your rating why give it at say 0.3 0.4 when its clearly top rated and a good price why back it with anything less than 0.6 ..you not trust your ratings do you have more faith in bookmakers prices..
look at your top picks this week for example winners 14to1 16to1 0.3 0.4 couple big priced placed as well considering only a few bets has to be something in it .
recomendation your top picks usually 90 per cent 0.5 above ..include more 0.1 to 0.4 guarentee if you study these further and use say 20 to 30 per cent of these in your picks profit will increase …strike rate slightly less but not a massive difference like you think,,
most people seem happy with the odd big priced winner this great if your on an overall profit ..thats your second biggish priced winner in last few days both under 0.5 ..your winners 0.5 above 2to1 11to4 etc ..believe me you should look at your strike rates with bigger smaller priced horses not a massive gap betwwen them like the way you would think..the way you back them 99 per cent of the time ..
ok say its top rated and the average prices for those bets is say 4to1 ..when a horse is say 8to1 this must be exceptional valueyour best picks must be rated on VALUE you have to know when one of these isnt i.e when its 6to4 2to1 etc. ..you have to know your stats inside out thats how i know there is value in your bigger priced 0.1 to 0.4 ..when the 2 horses are both 0.5 value has to be in the higher priced horse …you had this trouble a couple of times and seems the higher priced horse won no brainer …
yes entirely understand you need to use the smaller priced horses to higher stakes but not as often as to be not getting the most out of it..you have to when the value is in backing both of them to level stakes ..say you get a horse at 5to2 10 out of 10 races and you know it will win at least 3 of these yes thats value ..its when you have a 7to1 shot and you know its capable of winning it at least twice you have the true value i.e two in same race what one to back and at how much..

I dont know how you can say i am scared of bigger priced bets we have just had a 14/1 winner and there are prices like that in there every day but at the end of the day the ratings are done without ever looking at a price so whatever is top rated is a selection whatever the price.
Dutching covering your bets and losses ..this is a negative thing you should be covering them the best way possible to make you biggest profits ..
yes thats why your profits will never be at thier best smaller priced horses hardly ever value your covering bets by DUTCHING i know but being scared of the bigger priced bets is a negative in the long run ..strike rate a lot higher but VALUE very rarely…
Yes Dean believe you do get these prices also that the vast majority of the year you do make a decent profit..Certain things i dont like bugbear of mine services giving figures to best prices PRICEWISE an example next to no one achieves his prices..could name a couple of good services whos figures are always to SP and who state that using best prices arnt entirely honest and can be decieving..Iam trying to get the best out of your ratings and think your missing out on the best way to use them yourself VALUE best value not in lower priced horses ..Dutching is a good thing but smaller priced horses should not be backed that way 90 per cent of the time like you do..be happy to talk with you one to one on this or anything else would be benefitial both ways i think..
Christine we are dutching the 2 horses so of course the smaller price horse gets the bigger stake thats the only way it can work its nothing to do with value.
Value doesn,t have to mean a horse is 10/1 it all depends on what chance you or i think it has, even money or odds on can be value if the horse has an exceptional chance.
As i said before its obvious we are never gonna agree and i cant see you sticking around to see long term profits so i wish you well for the future.

Christine i have never manipulated any prices or results the prices stated are the prices i get early morning and i try and get them on here as early as possible so you guys can get the same or as near to as possible and yes you are right in the last 2 months im not in a great deal of profit but thats the way it works sometimes, long term this does work and long term it has always and will always make profit which is good enough for me.
VALUE true meaning..your picks today average price going on your prices about 11to2 average price 0.6 to 0.9 today 4to1 probally average for whay you give out ..last few weeks picks average strike rate 19 per cent 0.1 to 0.4 average strike rate 13 per cent but the prices on these usually about double the picks prices same with the winners..VALUE to you means the smaller priced bets get a bigger bet i.e. 0.8 0.9 2to1 or below …All professionals know the true meaning of value probally most important thing to them…
90 per cent of my bets iam using bet365 ..i write all my bets prices etc down iam losing on both your top picks and top two ..iam winning using 0.1 to 0.4 level stakes ..since the pay service began iam more than certain very few if any are in profit using your methods ..i know you are and you can only be up small percentage profit and your acchieving the best prices as you have said..
my two online bookmakers i use PADDYPOER and my main one because i consider it the best BET365 ..dont think normal people ever going to accieve deans prices work family etc..As for acchieving the best prices yes always the best way common sense but using these in your figures is manipulation of figures can make 19 per cent strike rates at average sps 7to2 look good..

Christine yes when weekly and monthly totals are done commission is taken into account but betfair is not used as much as it used to be i have found having a few different accounts and using oddschecker to source the best prices works better especially early morning bet365 is usually best. Of course my prices are better than sp,s isnt that the whole point trying to get value why would you back at sp when better prices are clearly available, we are obviousley never gonna agree on this but it has worked for me for 4 years so i will continue to do it that way.

your ratings are not making a profit or your picks in the last month to sps…over 40 bets today doesnt matter if your dutching when you look at most of the winning prices not great..lot of bets and effort for little reward..remember looking at september not in great depth though ..people were complaining that they werent getting prices then ..certainly not been in profit at sp in ratings or picks 2 months not good.. think you had few terrible days in september and bad weeks..

The prices you quote havent evened out for over 4 weeks now 70 percent of your prices are higher than the eventual starting prices..Your best picks since 24th september to tues 23rd october BASED ON STARTING PRICES are follows 256 bets 49 winners strike rate 19 per cent LOSS 230.50 9 per cent LOSS.Why say they even out when obviously not 4 weeks more than enough time for this..70 per cent of your prices are over the sps some more than double the sps..

Hi Christine no i havent changed anything, i had £3 on it because the other selection was 5/2 and needed £7. Value is definately taken into account but it has to be value for both selections in the ratings the system is to dutch both horses.

Hi Dean looks like your 0.1 to 0.4 bets are more than often more than double the price of your 0.6 to 0.9 bets …Doesnt look like you take value into account wich could make a big difference in the end ..looking at your ratings wich i think are good think they could be better with the Value factor taken into account…last 3 weeks strike rate 15 per cent more than double your 0.4 and above prices …your 0.4 and above have not been 30 per cent strike rate so makes common sense if you think about it…

Hi guys i will try and get through the comments and answer what i can.
I just want to point out Christine that 0.6 etc is not a rating but the stake (1pt divided between the 2 horses)
I know the strike rate is down since we started the service and i have to be honest and say i dont know why this is but previous months have certainly not been inflated,all results were first given as selections on this site which many of you will already know.
As for prices i dont think the top picks have been particularly short priced lately ive tried to eliminate the really short priced favourites recently and the majority of selections are available at decent prices.
Ofcourse we are never all going to get the same prices and even though you disagree the prices do even out over time, that said all selections are on here very early to allow all members to get those prices.
As for the other comments concerning the way things are done, i can only answer that by saying i have been doing the ratings for 4 years now and long term they have always been profitible i cut out sundays because in that time they very rarely were profitible if i could i would cut out weekends alltogether as sometimes saturdays can be like a lottery but its most peoples favourite day so i keep doing them, the same as when i think its a bad day, people are paying money for the selections so i provide them and its ultimately down to you to make the decision to bet or not.

I have followed dean for awhile and his stats are accurate if you can get the prices so for top picks you will generally achieve 20 to 30 points less profit per month than what Dean does although that obviously will vary a lot

Christine, look, I know the top picks have generally been bad in October but the Ratings have still been very good. October is renowned as a bad month as the jumps gets underway and the flat finishes. Dean has said as much himself. I’m hanging on to see how his tips perform over the jumps. Before Dean charged for this service, he published his tips for free on this site for a few months over the summer and they were very very good. I think he’s got something, I really do. Nobody produces profitable months every month. What other tipsters can you recommend?

The ratings are very good. The Top Picks have been great but have been grim this month. I’m just hoping its the “October” influence and it picks up again in November. I think Dean is good enough to turn it round.

Why hasn’t my assessment been included Dean? It is only to your advantage that there is a critical viewpoint as it will only improve the overall outcome.
Thanks guys It’s unfair for me to make any criticism on one piece of success at 8/1 and a 50% strike rate, he he he, but I do feel strongly that ratings have to be treated only as guidelines. Very often they are unreliable because the class of the race is too low, and it is too easy to introduce horses and manipulate the system. In other words horses are not run to win very often at this level because of the penalties incurred so therefore you are dealing with the pschology of racing and if you don’t have the inside information from trainers etc any donkey can win these low grade races.
So, therefore without going into my methods I suggest you first of all use ratings only as guidelines and that you stay well clear of sellers,2 year old races,apprentice races,and everything below grade 3 races.Try and think from a trainer’s point of view. Does he have two in the race for instance? They are coupled in FRance for a reason! We still do not get the weight of the horses for instance.We talk about a horse getting a 7 lb penalty for winning a race, but if it has deliberately been ‘resting in a field’ it could actually be running with a 20lb penalty, so in fact we can’t be sure that the horse is fit to do it’s best.They weigh the dogs and certainly is done in America. You will always have the trainers up in arms about possibly introducing the weighing of horses in this country .I wonder why? So to finish, don’t let’s forget about the greedy jockeys. The top ones will always be trying in the big races to take their % of the purse so unless the horse is a pace maker? you can bet your life they are out to win. Here is the time to get the ratings out and assuming that the ‘going’ is suitable they can be of great assistance. Be careful my friends for the world is full of trickery. Hi Mike, yeah i know what you mean im sure it could make a big difference. Personally i dont really have time to go back over all the results at the moment but if anyone wants to volunteer there are about six weeks of selections on this page to go through and i can supply more if wanted.
Morning Dean. I meant for the ratings rather than the top picks. If I have 5 pounds rather than 8 on a 9/4, then it doesn’t make as much difference as having 3 rather than 5 on a 10/1. Do you see what I mean? Obviously I’ve only been following your picks for a couple of months, so I didn’t know whether there was any data about what % of winners were first or second pick. Just looking for any advantage.

Simon yes some good winners yesterday but would have been a whole lot better if i hadnt of removed barton bounty from top picks and replaced it with ella gonda mou, still kicking myself but sometimes i get it right and then there’s yesterday
Christine personally i prefer the jumps but as far as the ratings go i have never noticed any great change in the profit/loss the transition periods between the two have always been the most difficult to predict.
A lot of short prices today so a lot of NO BETS on the ratings but a couple of good priced selections on top picks which ive put in to place missing agent in particular i think has a really good chance.

i cant get most of the prices and i have all the time in the world always on before tips given so i can get on strait away dean must have his own bookies

Today I did Bennys Quest, Kalani King and Hillview Boy which lost but also High Resolution which came in at over 10s. For a £1 stake,I made £7.47 from £4 bet. Which did you bet on?

you also have to take into account the reduction factors for non runners That would have made Bennys closer to a 6/1 chance earlier in the day and Deans 8/1 would also have had such reductions
Hi steve the answer is yes there are several defining factors to determine a bet. Lets take a look at todays first top tip…2.30 Worcs Bennys Quest . Quoted at 8/1 by Dean. First i look at market on Betfair and that shows that its highest matched price was 5.7 just over 9/2 This is backed up by the industry pricing which opens up at around 5/1 It was available at 888 and Blue Square at 6/1 around 9am but the max Blue Sq allowed me was £20 and when i entered 888 price they changed price on me to 5/1. So for the purposes of pice qualification i use 5/1 for Bennys Quest You have to do all this price checking so as to verify a bet.But as it is now a 5/2 shot it qualifies as at least a 40%+ reduction. If Dean did manage to get 8/1 good luck to him but i cant find that price anywhere
Marc, I was interested in your 25% price drop tip selection. I worked it out from yesterdays ratings and got slightly different results. I based it on official SP. The data below might be difficult to read so in summary, 5 winners, 9 lost. +7.5 units from 14 units staked. Winners:Coronea Lily, Armenian Boy, Shabak Hom, Spartan Spirit, Alraased. Simon ive suggested stop at a profit on the ratings as we are usually in profit at some point during the day i dont know how well it would work on top picks but again its something we can look at see if it would be profitible.

I have to add that i couldnt seperate finesse and gull rock on my ratings (2-40 lei) and in the past i have opted for the shorter priced runner and it has usually back fired so ive gone for finesse which i think has a cracking chance and is good value.

Good Morning guys it was agood start to the day especially as i was celebrating 3 wins from the first 4 untill i realised that somehow i had managed to remove EVOKE from top picks i dont know how it happened but my mistake so small profit made,another good day on ratings around 15 points profit a couple of 2nd rated beating top picks again.
I guess it shows were on the right track its just very frustrating.

really like deans ratings appreciate the time he must take doing these ..today for example if you take those rated 20 points plus 7 out of 11 won…smaller prices but certainly a really good strike rate worth looking at this
Good results yesterday again both the winners came from the horses i didnt get at deans prices but only .3 difference. Got on late today so a few have shortened (and some at longer odds aswell about 1.1 points down on deans prices overall) hopefully they all come in and we have a five or six winner day. Good morning a good 12/1 winner just a shame we didnt have much else to go with it, i had high hopes for saaboog but could only manage 3rd. Ratings had some good winners again including outlaw torn in the last i had a bad feeling it would beat our top pick. Today theres quite a few short faves early on but some good value bets later in the day.

Hi guys i will try and answer all your questions the best i can, first of all i totally agree that sp backers will not make as much profit but that is why the selections are on here early giving everyone enough time to get early prices.
@gary i would have to disagree that if it cant make profit at betfair sp its no good prices just before the off can change dramatically on betfair, i do agree we need some sort of uniforming but im not sure how we can do it.
@marc i know you disagree about the prices evening out over time but my past experience with the system tells me they do, i know since we went live with the system most of the selections have been favourites so it hasnt been apparent but it has happened that way in the past, i dont know if there are so many faves because i am now charging for the system and its something im doing sub consciously or if its just the way its working out i guess time will tell.
The figures quoted are certainly not just to make the system look good they are simply the prices i take on a morning when all my ratings bets are placed and there has to be more than £2 available but you will rarely see £100 available early morning.
What Simon has posted is spot on the key to making profit is getting value, one aspect of that is getting better than sp.
@alex A Top pick obviously has to be the top rated horse in the race after that its down to my judgement, sometimes i will put one in that is short priced but i think has an excellent chance sometimes a bigger price that might not have as good a chance on paper but i think is good value.

Beating the SP is key to long term profit, so it’s contradictive to quote P&L to SP
i think as we are mainly using betfair then we should use betfair sp then everyone will get the same profit and loss.dean does deserve to get the best prices but if it cant make a profit on betfair sp its no good to anyone.it as got to be a level playing field for everyone concerned.

No one asked if you BELIEVE or not.It is to everyones benefit that we ask questions so as to understand and prosper from Deans undoubtable talent.
iam happy with the prices i believe they will even out over a longer period as you have to look at prices over months not weeks…no reason to think anyone on here backing deans tips in thousands …why do people always look at the negative usually the people who dont have the betting bank in place and who cant afford to have any sort of losing run..
If you therefore use this info to your advantage you can make it pay using a staking plan. For example todays top tips prices are all at almost 1pm still available ( thats rare for his top picks). The one thats dropped a in price significantly is Quinsman 2.50 sedgfield. The next one to drop the most so far is Fast Finnian.maybe these are the two with the best chance Lets see!! Dean maybe you could let us know if you have found this to be a profitable way forward, or is it just over the last two months that this has proven to be true.
Re prices.I have followed Deans info carefully and you will not make his figures by prices “evenining themselves out, in the long run” His selections obviously include lots of favourites. The ones of these that win are often well backed. So re his tips// winners drop in price losers drift.So to make it pay you MUST get the prices he quotes. Some of these are available but most are not. Some are so far off the mark that if you get on at the wrong price, you will not win even when he wins.Even if he makes 80pts in a mont, SP backers cannot win anything like that amount thats a certainty.
For me its not right to quote a price that £2 is available on the back side on Betfair early in the morning. The price quoted should be best Industry price or one that at least say £100+ is available on the exchanges. This is not to say i dont think Dean is good and we can all win, its just not right to quote such prices to make monthly figures look good.
Top picks are back to normal and again on average i have gotten better prices than you Dean (about 2.2 points up over all 8 top picks) but lets see which ones come through.
Last week has been excellent lets hope it continues.
I go with the top picks rather than the ratings (now) because they do get a better return on investment and i only have a small bank to go with the top 2 ratings as well i believe i would need 4 times the capital but would only get 2.5 times the money approx (looking at your past results). I probably will get back on them eventually as i enjoy looking over all of the results but for now though top picks it is.
ps dean what a are the qualifications for a top pick from your ratings, (if it is not a national secret).

Good morning i think the price discussion could go on forever and of course we are never all going to get the same price but the system is essentally based on my own personal bets which are placed early morning and im up at 4am to make sure the ratings are done in time and selections on here as early as possible for you guys to get good prices aswell but as was said on the other page over time the prices do even themselves out, i know it hasnt looked that way over the past few weeks through our bad patch but you will start to see it.
Alex the ratings havent picked up aswell as the top picks im having some really good priced winners but the consistency isnt there at the moment but i think im the only one who bets every race so im just happy top picks are getting back to normal.
Ps if anyone knows of another tipster with as good a record let me know and ill have a look for a few months and join up with them as well.
Pss i think we should start getting some data together on the prices and work out the best way and time to get the prices every dollar counts good luck tomorrow
Continuing on the prices. People are concerned about prices because they are important. If you are betting on someone elses tips prices are all you have controll over do you want to make sure you can get the best possible. I believe i get more than half of the prices above deans BUT i am not so sure about the prices of the winning horses. having watched and on occasion used deans tips i do not expect to achieve his results especially for top picks as there is no one out there who consistently makes 30% plus with or without loosing months 10% is a very good return
