Yes it will – but I have noticed that the flat (all weather at least) pops in the top raters/ top weights more often than not. Will have to have a look at it a little more closely though.
Still we are all in for a profit – however it comes. Just hope anyone who has followed this exercise has found it useful. At least if profitable we can run it when the heavy ground kicks in again next winter. I don’t mind posting as long as it produces some winners and a profit is made – and I won’t be going behind closed doors and charging for the picks !!

Hi Ron – Note from earlier posting – sorry for delayed reply – work during the day and have to post at night.
Summarising – I have been looking at the lowest rated horses (according to At The Races site) as I have noticed a recurring pattern of low rated horses winning / placing over jumps on heavy conditions. Started a paper exercise on Wednesday 05/02/2014 to £10.00 stakes.
Rules –
Going has to be heavy
No picks where all the runners are not rated
No races with odds on favourites
Slight addition to the above –
If there is a huge gap in ratings between top and bottom horses go with the second lowest.
Any thoughts and or your own opinions would be welcome.
Avoid Saturday race cards – bombed out a couple of times.
There’s no system other than low raters win a lot more on heavy ground.
I have tried on soft – not as good but some decent e/w placers
Good – try to avoid – no winners yet.

What I do is ignore any short priced horses ( shorter than odds on and usually up to 11/4). I go with your pick and JamesC’s two picks and back them each-way.
The returns are reasonably good.
Where you back both horses and the field is small, I tend to back them both to win and again the results are reasonable.

Just looking at the moment – have a passing interest and looking at low raters for a months to see how they go – I can’t believe the number of low rated horses that win / place. Todays list is a little scepticle – but for the sake of £10 I am going with Rouge Et Blanc in the 3.15 at Warwick.

Started a paper exercise on Wednesday 05/02/2014 to £10.00 stakes.
Wednesday – 5 to win bets on qualifying horses produced £127.00 profit
Thursday – 4 to win bets on qualifying horses produced £240.00 profit.
