Huddersfield face Southampton at the John Smith's Stadium on Saturday afternoon, in a packed round of Premier league matches.

The Terriers come into this match on the back of another win, this time a 2-1 win against Yorkshire neighbours Rotherham.

They got off to a nightmare start, with Semi Ajayi opening the scoring for Rotherham in the first minute.

It took until the second half for the home side to equalise, with Phillip Billing stepping up from the penalty spot (52).

Huddersfield have been the most impressive side in the Premier League this season, they currently sit second in the table.

David Wagner was a revelation in his first season, with the Germans infectious management style working emphatically.

They have won both of their opening matches, away against Crystal Palace and at home against Newcastle.

They face a Southampton side that won their last fixture against West Ham, they have struggled at home this season though.

Terriers Underdogs

David Wagner's side come into this match as underdogs, despite their opening two wins.

This will be a tough match for Huddersfield, with Southampton looking for back to back wins.

Huddersfield will be looking for their fifth win in nine matches against Southampton.

New Season

The Saints come into this match in mixed form, especially after losing 2-0 at home against Wolves in the Carabao Cup.

Mauricio Pellegrino's Saints have been knocked out of the cup at the first time of asking, a terrible result for last years finalists.

Danny Batth opened the scoring for the visitors (67), with the Wolves man heading past the Saints defence to make it 1-0.

Donovan Wilson added insult to injury for the Saints, his first senior goal (87) ensuring the match ended 2-0.

For Southampton, it was an embarrassing defeat, and their continued struggles in front of goal will worry Pellegrino.

Tough Follow Up

It will be a tough season for Mauricio Pellegrino, despite his Saints side already recording their first win.

They are unbeaten in the league after an opening day draw against Swansea, and the win against West Ham.

Both matches were at home and both are matches that Saints manager Pellegrino would have expected them to win.

The league cup defeat will have worried the manager though, even though the Saints made six changes.

 

Saints Favourites

Southampton come into this match as favourites, despite suffering a mixed start to the season.

Mauricio Pellegrino will be looking for the perfect response to Wednesday's cup defeat.

The Saints will be looking to make five wins in nine matches against Huddersfield.
