This Premier League Review sees Everton's season assessed, ultimately it is a season that will be regarded as progress.
Everton came into the season on the back of an 11th placed finish, this cost Roberto Martinez his job.
It was a season that under Martinez saw Everton regress, with a lack of goals and home wins doing for the Spaniard.
The challenge for Everton this season was to return to winning ways at home and to push on to compete with the top six.
Signing Ronald Koeman was a masterstroke, with the Dutchman enjoying an excellent two seasons at Southampton.
The calibre of managers in the league is incredible, with Koeman pitting his wits against the likes of Klopp, Guardiola, Wenger, Mourinho, Conte and Pochettino.
They have made excellent strides under Koeman, securing a further six wins than they managed during the 14/15 season.
Great Start
Everton enjoyed an excellent start to the season, they were unbeaten in their opening five matches (W4, D1).
Their first defeat came against Howe's Bournemouth, and then a month later they were defeated by Burnley.
They lost 11 matches in total, this was the most in the top seven only Arsenal came close, losing 9 matches.
Breaking into the top four will be Koeman's main aim next season, this will be an enormous ask though.
With the sides around them looking to strengthen during the summer it is vital that the Toffees do the same.
Everton enjoyed an excellent season against the top sides, beating City and Arsenal as well as holding Manchester United twice.
They finished 32 points behind Antonio Conte's side, with the 11 defeats hurting Koeman's men.
Cup Failures
Everton failed to make any impact on the domestic cups this season, with the league taking priority.
They managed to lose in the Carabao Cup to Norwich 2-0, and 2-1 to Leicester in the 3rd round.
Everton will need to be consistent across all competitions, with the added pressure of the Europa League next season.
Top Stats
Romelu Lukaku enjoyed a fine season, ending the club's top Premier League scorer with 25 goals and 6 assists.
Ross Barkley has emerged as a vital talisman with the most assists (8) and the second most goals (5).
Idrissa Gueye had an excellent debut season, with the most passes (1885), the most tackles (135) and interceptions (81).
Their final points tally was 61, that was 14 points better than last season, finishing four places higher.
Overall it's an excellent season, but they must improve in cup competitions, something Koeman has struggled with.
Transfer Speculation
Koeman has already added to his talented squad, securing the signing of Jordan Pickford from Sunderland for £30 million.
They have also signed Davy Klassen from Ajax, as well as Nathangelo Markelo from FC Volendam.
Everton have also announced Henry Onyekuru from KAS Eurpen, with Sandro Ramirez of Malaga on the brink of joining the Toffees.
The main priority for Koeman will be finalising the futures of wantaway stars Romelu Lukaku and Ross Barkley.
