At last, the waiting is over and the new football season kicks off again tomorrow. With the arrival of Robin Van Persie at Old Trafford they could be an even bigger threat to Manchest City's hopes of retaining the title. For one thing it will be another intriguing season, but at such short odds I will not be backing either of them, not because I don't think they will win it, but because I don't want to be waiting 9 months for my winnings. Man City are 2.36 and Utd 3.2. I almost guarantee at some point in the season both teams will be a higher price than this and go onto win the league. I usually stay away from the Premier league market and concentrate on the lower leagues where there is a bit of value about. There is a poll on the right side of this page, who do you think will win the Premier league this season? Vote now
League 1
Sheffield Utd are obvious favourites to win the league at 6.2, but I think there is some value to be had in Bournemouth. They are a team on the up and have good financial backing. I expect them to be strong at home this season and at 14, look a decent price to win the league. They are 4.5 for promotion.
League 2
Rotherham are hot favourites and rightly so, new stadium, new signings and stronger squad, but I don't think they offer any value at 4.5. League 2 can be very unpredictable and I think it will be closer than the bookies predict. Newly promoted Fleetwood are tipped to go up again whilst Chesterfield are also fancied. A team I liked last season was Southend, they were probably the best side I watched along with Swindon. They are 16 to win the league which maybe worth a small bet.
