Racing season is officially upon us with many fans enjoying events such as Cheltenham Festival in mid-March and The Grand National in early April. But the racing fun doesn’t stop there. As the weather gets warmer and summer comes around, there are even more racing events to come.

Whether you’re placing a bet on the redbet sportsbook or attending events in person, these races are the perfect way to liven up the summer. But what events should you keep your eye on? Let’s take a look at some of the most hotly anticipated racing events taking place this summer…

Royal Ascot

Kicking things off, the summer season begins with the most prestigious event of them all – Royal Ascot. Held in mid-June, this event brings out the best of the best, kitted out in full morning suits and top hats.

With a rich history and heritage, the event not only offers high-class fashion, but is also a world-renowned racing occasion. A whopping £3.5 million prize-money is on offer, which means the horseracing is top class and certainly one for the diary. The highlight of this five-day event is the Gold Cup.

Northumberland Plate Festival

Next on the list is the Northumberland Plate Festival at the end of June. One of the flat racing events of the year in the North, the festival draws large crowds on the final Saturday.

This race was first run in 1833 and is otherwise known as ‘Pitmen’s Derby’ due to the mining heritage of the north-east. The racing is also second to none with the Northumberland Plate, which is a two-mile heritage handicap worth £150,000.

The Coral Summer Festival

Head down to Sandown Park in the beginning of July to enjoy two jammed pack days at The Coral Summer Festival. With top class racing and entertainment, it’s certainly not one to miss. The festival features the Group 1 Coral Eclipse, with the Eclipse being one of the most prestigious prizes in the British flat racing calendar.

Moet & Chandon July Festival

Next in the diary is the exciting three-day fixture, Moet & Chandon July Festival. This event features quality racing against a beautiful backdrop in Newmarket. The highlight of this racing event is this Saturday sprint race, the Darley July Cup, which has runners from across the world.

If you’re heading down to this festival, be sure to take part in the fabulous fashion and enjoy the garden party feel and entertainment.

King George Weekend

A spectacular social and sporting event to look out for this summer is the King George Weekend. Held at the prestigious Ascot racecourse, this weekend is regarded as the premier midseason championship race for racing fanatics around the globe.

Qatar Goodwood Festival

One event not to miss in the summer months is the five-day Qatar Goodwood Festival. Nicknamed ‘Glorious Goodwood’ the festival is set to be a knockout. Whether it’s the charming Sussex countryside, the buzzing atmosphere or the competitive races across a range of distances, there’s plenty to soak up and enjoy at this showcase summer event.
